If you were a college scout with an unlimited recruiting budget and you were tasked with signing the next great college QB that will lead your school to the next NCAA championship. You can scour the entire united states searching for QB talent, you will have to evaluate the QB solely based on HIS PLAY understanding that many high schools don't have great coaching or great players at every position so you will have to evaluate the QB despite possibly bad coaching and maybe bad oline and WR play.

Here's the kicker... your Head Coach has told you that if the guy you choose is no good, you'll be FIRED!

You have 4 years and 3 games (Play Along) of tape on this kid named Ryan Tannehill, do you offer him a scholarship to your school as the guy to lead your team to a Title?

No, but this is a stupid thread. Just because Tannehill isn't the best QB in the league doesn't mean he's terrible. My lord.

But I see sportcenter highlight reels and those other guys hit every pass! for TDs!

Depends on the school and your definition of good. If you're at a program like Alabama it's going to be different than if you were at North Carolina. And the perspective on Tannehill would be different too. A qb like Ryan would look much different if he were surround by 5 star players on the o-line and at the skilled positions. You've seen enough of Ryan to say he looks pretty damn good when things around him are done right. Imagine him with and elite NFL o-line, running back and receivers. He could be scary good. Then again the expectations at a school like Alabama where losing two games and not contending for a national title might be considered a bad year is a different situation too. At a school like North Carolina it's not about contending for a national title just making a bowl game is a good year.

People who think you need to be one of the top four or five qb's in the league/a future hall of fame type qb or you're bum aren't going to be satisfied with Tannehill. But those fans aren't going to be happy with 90/95 percent of the other options either. Right now there are around 90 qb's on NFL rosters, I would say Tannehill is in the top 15 area with the chance to be top 10. I don't think that we'll see him as a top five qb, especially if he's on a team like Miami has had recently. Also the talent gap between the number 7,8 and 9 qb and 12,13 or 14 qb is not very big, with players sliding back and forth from one area to the other yearly. Changing one qb in that range for another in that range is pointless and teams aren't going give you a top five qb either.

I am wondering if anyone saw Big Ben stripped from behind and fumbled or these idiots think it only happen to Tannehill? May be I should make a poll to see!

Or Cam Newton in the Super Bowl? Or Luck against the Broncos? Strips happen. Interceptions happen. For me it's more about how the negative plays impact your next plays. Does your qb go into a shell when things go bad?

That is one thing about Tanne, he is even keel......nothing really affects him.

When he does make a mistake he rebounds quickly.

After the first Int he leads a TD drive.
After pick 6 he leads tying FG drive.
After strip sack he changes field position in OT and then leads the game winning drive.

Yawn. Yet another tannehill thread.

Move on ffs

Another one of these. Tannehill is the QB for the whole season. Like it or not, it's not going to change. Root for him and the offense to do good cause the defense will not win games for us this year.

Ozzy rules!!

Here we go again comparing Tannehill to a SB winning QB....when you win people see these issues as an aberration, we you have never taken your team to the playoffs people see these things as the reason why you haven't taken your team to the playoffs....give me Big Ben any day over Tannehill and I will put up with his occasional bad day instead of a mediocre season.....

I would take big bens' defense and running game over his career over ben any day.

Let me help some of you out as it's clear a few have missed the point.

When evaluating any player and deciding if he's good or not compared to what's available, you have to look SOLELY at the PLAYER despite everything around him. So, you create a checklist and you rate the items in reference to level of importance. That checklist looks something like this in my order of importance

1. Accuracy
2. Awareness
3. Pocket Maneuverability
4. Arm Strength
5. Play Making Ability
6. Poise
7. Mobility
8. Leadership
9. Poise
10. Play under pressure
etc....

How many of these items would he score high in if you were the talent evaluator?

Here we go again not comparing anybody, except the position it self and to state the things that happen to Tanne happen to the best QBs in the league. I would take Big Ben over most QBs as well....but we don't have him What we do have is a good QB who seems to get blamed by the uneducated (as it relates to football) when no one calls out Landry and his 2 huge drops or Parker running the wrong route or the inability to run when we need to, or James unable to block. It is all Tanne, it is just STUPID!

It's not about that. You're missing the point.

If you're a talent evaluator you have your checklist take away everything else coaching, oline, other players etc... How many categories would Tannehill rate higher than Big Ben, Luck, Dak Prescott, Carson Wentz and other QB's in the league?
