I see a lot of rumors going on about these 3 plays that will each fit WELL into our defesne and offer A LOT of flexability.

Peppers - A huge body with great athletic ability. He can play on his feet or with his hand in the dirt. Can casue a lot of problems as he can rush the passer and is athletic enough to drop into some coverage. Can be the 4th down linemen when we choose to go with a 4 man front.

Canty - very much like pepers but more of a DE. He has played in this defesne before and wil make an easy transition. Huge physical player that can casue problems for offenses. Although not a natural pass rusher, has the capability to create pressure from the DE position.

Suggs - an athletic player in the mold of peppers. Will play OLB rushing from a stand up positon or dropping into coverage. Not as athletic as peppers but a natual pass rusher. Can play 4th down lineman in a 4-3 defense.

All in all 3 great fits for our defesne. Each offers a little something different. I shocked myself and said peppers only becasue I think he can give us more. He can do a little of everything and is a HUGE ATHLETIC body.

What do you guys think?

a better fit?

Suggs.

Peppers, while interested in playing in a 3-4, has never done so. I think he can, and would probably be very good....but you'd be projecting so he loses some value IMO.

Canty is a good 3-4 DE, but he wouldn't provide any real upgrade as a pass rusher and we have two pretty good young DE's plus some depth....unless he's going to bring the heat, he's not a need.

Suggs has played and excelled as a 3-4 rush linebacker. We don't have anyone on the roster besides Porter who has shown that they can consistently get pressure on the QB. Suggs can. And he so young.

Suggs and Canty both fit but play different positions. Suggs gets the nod due to being a position of need. I'm not to high on Peppers. If where going to pay big money to someone they need to make an immediate impact and I don't see that with Julius learning a new position.

Agreed that peppers have not played in a 3-4 defense. He has played on his feet and dropped into coverage in his early days with the panthers.

I like Suggs a lot and he would fit well. He has done it and it could be a smooth transition for him.

I still like peppers for some strange reason.

It's a tie between Peppers and Suggs for me. I'll be happy with whoever the front office picks, if we're lucky enough to get one of them.

Suggs please, the guy does it all and all over the field. He's entering the prime years of his career and would be a great addition.

Peppers is only interesting if he's a FA and not someone that we'd have to trade for, I'd want a more incentive laden contract for him though 2 sacks in 2007 doesn't warrent a huge contract in a new position.

Suggs is a big time player. He would be a huge addition to our defense.

Suggs will likely be re signed, and Wake becoming an OLB means Peppers wont be coming either. my personal feeling is that canty would make the most sense. he could replace vonnie if he's cut and has familiarities with our coaches. my moneys on canty.

Suggs cuz we suck at LB. got depth at DE so canty would be great but not the best fit. but suggs is going to get resigned to ravens. change suggs to scott because scott will be let go and we are gonna grab him.

ravens will not let go of suggs
peppers will be to expensive for us
canty might work out.
i personally would like bart scott, also wanted dansby, but that might change now that the cards are in the super bowl, he might get paid
