Here is a breakdown of where we stand on offense(only players on depth chart):

QB:
We currently have 2 guys who are very capable backups and 2 guys who make money by the duffelbag-full by doing nothing.

Gus Frerotte - C+

Sage Rosenfels - C

Cleo Lemon - D

Brock Berlin - D-

Summary:
We need to solidify the #1 QB position either through a proven veteran or draft a rookie prospect, or both. Keep Rosenfels and Frerotte, and dump Lemon.

HB:
We have talent pouring from our ears in this category.

Ronnie Brown - A-

Ricky Williams - A

Travis Minor - C+

Kay-Jay Harris - C-

Summary:
Two options, either keep them all, or trade one of them away to help produce room for talent at other needed areas, I choose option #2.

FB:
These guys are solid. Konrad would be proud.

Darian Barnes - B+

Sammy Morris - B-

Ben Moa - (don't know who this is)

Summary:
I wouldn't change a thing.

WR:
For some reason there are a lot of people who think this is a major area of concern this offseason. I don't agree at all.

Chris Chambers - A+

Marty Booker - B+

Wes Welker - C

Bryan Gilmore - C

Cliff Russel - C-

Kendall Newson - C

Chris Davis, Fred Gibson, and Jason Willis (who are they)

Summary:
I think this is one of the strengths of our team. I wouldn't be opposed to spending a 3rd rounder on a guy or bringing in a moderate level FA, but there is no need to spend TO/Reggie Wayne money.

OL:
I'm not going to go into detail about each lineman, I don't know much about linemen other than they need to block and when they dont block good they suck.

I give our OL a B- rating overall.

Summary:
Lets get a beast on both tackles and pick up Bentley in FA.

------------------------------------------

My plan would be (in chronological order):
1)Sign LeCharles Bentley
2)Sign David Givens
3)Trade Ricky to Denver for 29th overall pick
4)Trade 16th and 29th picks to New York Jets for #4 overall pick
5)Draft Matt Leinart
6)Draft late round WR
7)Drop Lemon on June 1st

Remember! This does not involve any defensive factors! But I allowed room for them.

Oops...

I left out TEs....my bad

McMichael - A+

Diamond - C+

No need for concern

I agree about the WRs, Welker made all sorts of plays last year. I'd move him up to B- at least.

I am curious what your credibility is because you have us drafting Matt Leinart. But in your signature you want us to get Omar Jacobs. Something doesnt add up. Will someone correct me if I am wrong

im originally from northwest ohio, cant help but like a Bowling Green QB. I wouldnt be upset if he ended up in miami if we couldnt get a franchise guy in the first round

I prefer Omar myself just because we can get him in a later round. And I like his versatility

i pretty much agree about everything except for the trading both 1st rounders, and another thing, Matt Leinhart wont be there at 4

ok, think of it this way

we have the 16th pick and we have ricky

if we trade ricky for the 29th pick, then ricky=the 29th pick

now, imagine what kind of QB will be available at the 16th spot.

Not looking good is it?

Ok, would you give up Ricky Williams in order to upgrade that #16QB to Matt Leinart? I would

essentially we give up ricky and the 16th for leinart, that sounds like a fair deal, even if we are taking a slight loss, at least we will finally have a QB.

NOW

about Leinart being available.

Houston will take Bush (they are keeping Carr)

New Orleans will take Jay Cutler

Tennessee will take Vince Young

Miami gets Leinart

wo wo wo
slow down there

you are trying to hard

first off the 29th and 16th wont get us to # 4 and secondly leinart is the best QB in the draft and will be the first one taken at #2

Agreed..... Reasons.... First, I don't think Denver is going to go for the Ricky for the 29th pick trade.... They would probably offer a later pick if anything... Second, IMO I don't see the Jets giving up that 4th pick with their present QB situation.... Third, I think Leinart will be first QB taken.... Wishfull thinking though....

Nice summary. A few points I disagree on:

1. Dumping Cleo Lemon. He is at the moment a ? to everybody. I doubt we gave up a draft pick for him just to dump him. It may end up that way, but clearly there is something going on in Saban or Mueller's head we don't know about.

2. No way Ronnie deserves a lower grade than Ricky. He rushed for more yards with the exact same YPC, plus was a better blocker and pass catcher.

I have no problem with them both having A's, but no way does Ronnie deserve a lower grade.

3. The 16th and the 29th pick does not move us to the #4 spot. Maybe #10.

why in the world does Cleo Lemon get a D? How do you know enough to even give him a grade? You seem dead set on dropping the guy, I'm just curious why?

I would not draft Leinart if he fell to 16. IMO I think Leinart is going to be a bust.He reminds me of cade mcnown.Just a gut feeling.:dolphins:

I have been lurking your forum for awhile (very nice BTW) but finally broke down and registered after reading this post. As a Saints fan I can tell you the following (after listening to Saints GM, Mickey Loomis in interviews, reading local papers, and staying on Saintsreport.com)

1. Jay Cutler isn't even on the Saints radar at #2. Loomis has talked extensively about Leinart (who he wants) and a little on Vince Young. While he hasn't committed 100% to Leinart it is clear who the Saints FO wants. One of the main reasons the Saints hired new HC, Sean Payton, was to develop Matt Leinart. The only minor threat to the Saints landing Leinart is the Titans possibly trading with the Texans to land him.....

2. LeCharles Bentley, after denying they were going to do it, Mickey Loomis said in an interview yesterday that they were considering tagging Bentley. He said if they were going to do it that it would right before the free agency period begins. The motto is now - Bentley stays or some other team pays.

3. Aaron Brooks will be available. While I'm no LSU homer I do respect Nick Saban. I think he could definitely do something with Brooks. While I don't think that Brooks would be capable of leading the Phins to a Superbowl I do think he could be a stop gap until you get a young QB.
