It's all but impossible to have a rational conversation with these people.
Miami Fan: "So, what will their record be this season?"
Me: "Can't imagine them winning more than four or five."
Miami Fan: "Are you out of your !@#$%&* mind? Parcells is worth eight all by his Big Tuna lonesome, which gets 'em to .500 without blinking. Then add your four or five wins, and it's playoff time."
Me: "Jason Taylor is their best player, and he might take his defensive end act elsewhere. Ricky Williams, incredibly, might be their best offensive player. And who - unless, of course, Parcells does it - is going to play quarterback?"
Miami Fan: "Taylor can take his dancing shoes anywhere he wants. Who needs him? He couldn't even beat Kristi Yamaguchi on that stupid show he cared about so much. Ricky should be good for 1,000 rushing yards. And that Chad Henne kid is gonna get the job done at quarterback."
Me: "If you say so."
Miami Fan: "I say so."

Fire Greg Stoda now!!!! That was horrible. I'm not saying that because I'm a homer, it was just lame. Oh! Wow! He really educated us.

He says we fans get too optimistic at this time every year..well..How about sports media guys get really bored this time every year and have to come up with and fabricate nonsense and BS like this fabulous piece of excrement in order to sell papers or get ratings. What? Would he be happy if all Dolphin fans walked around all negative and spewing out negative junk all day?....Yeah! That's a good Idea..That's a lot of fun..

These guys aren't reporters. They're tabloid gossip columnists.
 
Lets all predict 1 or 2 wins. No reason too expect any improvement with over 50% of the team replaced and almost all of the coaching staff. I guess we might as well expect another crappy season. Happy now???

Certainly not Stoda's best work, but I understand where he's coming from. Basically, it's "don't get your hopes too high" kind of thing. Coming off a 1-15 season, perhaps cautious optimism is more the order of the day.

I haven't heard many people here say that we're going to the playoffs this year like this shmo implies most of us do. Most are cautiously optimistic, like you said. I think he's trying to get some negative attention. I can't believe he writes for a S. Florida paper!
