It seems the Dolphins already had to pay kicker Olindo Mare's his $250,000 bonus before the team signed free-agent kicker Jay Feely to take his job.

The only plausible explanation for the Dolphins not releasing Mare yet is that they're trying to trade the former Pro Bowl kicker (1999) for at least a draft pick. Mare has been preoccupied with other matters as his wife, Sandy, gave birth to their third child and second son this week.
