I don't know why anybody would give Ireland the benefit of the doubt on free agency signings after proving he had been horrible at it for years. On the other hand Newsome has proven to be great at it and in an Ireland vs Newsome head to head I know who my money was on.

The year the Ravens won the SB they had more one year free agents on the team than any other team in the league, and I believe San Fran was number two, or very high up on the list that year. We had zero on our team by the end of the season that year.

You can stop reading things into it. I never said I give Ireland anything on these signings. I just pointed out that the fans on this board loved the Ellerbe signing and loved Ireland for it when it happened. And now we say "classic Ireland". This is as hindsight as it gets.
