How odd is it for Ndamukong Suh to have just one tackle, as he did last Sunday? Not that unusual. He has had one or zero in 17 of his past 50 games.

What’s worrisome is Suh’s lack of pass rush (no defensive tackle has had more sacks since 2010) and his inability to shake single blocks, which he saw a lot of last Sunday. Remember, even though the Suh-led Lions were first around the run last season, they were 24th, 23rd and 16th in Suh’s first three seasons. So his presence guarantees nothing.

The Dolphins need to start moving Suh around, to keep opponents off balance. But Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby said Wednesday that there has been no discussion of that with coaches.

### The Dolphins desperately need to generate pressure with a four-man rush, because mediocre Kirk Cousins and Blake Bortles completed 15 of 21 passes for 196 yards against Miami’s blitz, with Bortles posting a 146.7 rating against Miami’s blitz, 71.1 otherwise. Too often, Miami’s defensive backs (excluding Brent Grimes) haven’t been able to hold up in coverage without help.

### Player complaints already are starting, with one saying the team practiced too long and hard in the heat a few days before the Jaguars loss. So Joe Philbin made the right move by cutting practice short this past Friday.

Even after 50 games here (24-26), Philbin told his players last week: “You guys have to have faith in our staff and yourselves in terms of the way we prepare for games.”

### Buffalo tight end Charles Clay returns to play his former team Sunday months after difficult negotiations in which the Dolphins kept expressing concerns about his knee. That prompted the Clay camp to ask the Dolphins: What about Jordan Cameron’s history of concussions? Cameron, for Sunday, gets $156,250 for every game he plays.

Wow! Crying about long practices in the heat...AnD he actually gave in.... WTF is this???

Joe does not have the locker room. The wheels could come off real fast without a win this week or next.

Season is on the line.

Has it ever worked out for the team that spends all that cash on free agents? I think the last time it did was when Canada offered Zonk that huge payday to go North...since then...just pain follows.

The team can get out from Cameron's contract easy this year if there is an injury issue. They played it fine.

Who the **** complained about the heat? Mastering playing in the heat is our primary advantage! What's MUCH MUCH worse is that philbin gave in to that griping.

I know philbin stupidly claimed that a tough training camp was a primary reason for the late season collapses and wanted to scale those back but if we go 1-3 saving anything for the end isnt going to mean much.

Joe will never get the benefit of the doubt because the team (right or wrong) does not respect him.

If there was a coach that the team respected running the team, that same player would have said, "coach is getting us ready to combat the heat".

It is what it is.

So in Shulas Superbowl seasons we had 2 practices per day throughout camp and long practices in the heat and the team did not collapse. That is just a fricken excuse.

Too many of todays players want to be coddled and lavished. Whoever the player is that whined should be thrown off the team. No wussies allowed.

True. There's a real disconnect for the players not to understand the importance of having the edge in this heat. It's a failure on the coach's part not to instill that in them. Where's the deference towards your coach.. What is there for a player to respect in Philbin? Accomplishments? No. Demeanor? No.

Absolutely. We have a profound geographical advantage against all these teams who simply cannot play in this heat. Shula understood it and took advantage of it. I HATE these coddling coaches we've had since. Saban's giant nipple that he built has been incredibly overused.

There were defensive players, Grimes. e.g., griping about the grueling preseason / camp after the season ended last year. I'm not a fan of Philbin but it seems like he gets all the blame for everything, rightfully so in most cases but I don't see him at fault in this case. Players already get less practice with new agreement, this is just taking it a step further.

So far, we made the right choice with Cameron

It's not even close. If Clay had no injury concerns, it would be one thing, but Cameron is simply a much better pass catching threat than Clay. Clay is a good threat after the catch, but he simply isn't the same kind of weapon when it comes to running downfield and making himself a good target for the QB.

Interesting that Mort said on Insiders that Jim Washburn might join the Fins next year. There was talk he would this year, but the Lions blocked it because they were bitter over Suh leaving.

Suh had his best success over Washburn.
