Commish now announces what I previously reported South Florida (Miami/FTL) and San Fran (Santa Clara) finalists for Super Bowl 50 ...

After the vote on SB 50, Houston and the runner-up from SB 50, will be voted on for SB 51

Probably fair to say that SunLife Stadium might need to have some upgrades approved before next May to get either Super Bowl L or LI

I didn't see it posted so I thought I would post it.

Santa Clara will probably get it. Brand new stadium in a very lovely area. Although, Santa Clara is about an hour away from San Fran, and I am sure most media people would prefer to be in SF than Santa Clara, but I still think they will get it.

Santa Clara is a lovely area? Since when?

It'll be sad if we end up runner-up for Super Bowl L and then lost to Houston for Super Bowl LI.

I am sure the new kids on the block will get it. Ross should just implode Sun Life Stadium and build a new place with a roof or some kind of a shade, and maybe air conditioned seats and misting machines. They also should put it in a place that everyone likes to be near...like South Beach....maybe build a man made island just for the stadium...something that would make Jerry Jones place look like a dump.

Hasn't Miami hosted the most SB's or close to it? This may factor into the decision a bit. Think about it. Wouldn't it make more sense to host the SB's 50th anniversary in a location where it already has a ton of history? Think of how many memorable SB's have been played in Miami, including the infamous SB3 with Joe Willie Namath. Santa Clara has no history. In fact, the greater Bay Area has only hosted ONE SB ever (yeah, I know our Dolphins lost there).

Santa Clara can host it another time. It should be hosted in Miami based upon history and the fact that this is the Golden Anniversary for the greatest sporting event held each and every year.

Im really talking more about the Bay Area. I've been to San Francisco / San Mateo, but never to Santa Clara. I assume if the Super Bowl is in Santa Clara, most of the activities will be in SF.

Miami has hosted 10 times , the most. San Fran hosted once in 1985. Miami should get #50, but the NFL has been passing it around to new stadiums lately , so stabbing clara will probably get it.

This news makes me think Stephen Ross will go into overdrive into finally upgrading Sun Life Stadium so the grand Super Bowl L can be played in Miami (which it should thanks to the history). Otherwise a brand new stadium in Santa Clara will take it. So like I said Ross will finally make some plans just so Miami can lure the Super Bowl back home

my thinking exactly

I'm surprised it wasn't between Santa Clara and Minnesota. Seems like brand new stadiums are guaranteed to host a super bowl within 3 years of existence. Miami so needs a new stadium. lol If they announced today that Miami would be getting a new stadium in the future, I would be ecstatic. If Miami had a new stadium, Goodell would literally put the SB in Miami every other year lol.
