Super Bowl caliber Defense wasted

This whole thing is a a FO debacle but it by no means is Spiels fault. Our great D was built over time and a Offense is built over time as well.No easy way outs here,New coach and philosophy,AJ with a year under his belt,a decent O line.Point is next year we'll be fine but we must suffer the consequences of a HC soon to be EX HC who just believed in Defense.

We have so much talent on D, but by the time this O gets around the D will be too old. What a shame.

Feel sorry for Zach and JT

I still can't get over this post to start the thread.

That's what you want on the field at the end "your best players".

We did. They lost.

Ladies, our D gave up 9 points WITHOUT our bess pass defender in Surtain and our best DT in TimBo. We didnt even have our nickel back in Howard and they still only gave up 9 points! At the end of the game, they were soo tired but they STILL didnt give up a touchdown. You would be too if you offense went 3 and out 75% of the drives.

We NEED to "rent" our defense to Indy/KC/Minnesota or a team like that. Our defense is too good to rot away with a losing season this year waiting for the Oline to rebuild. These guys deserve a ring and its a shame the otherside of the ball is so freakin horrible.

We should be 30th in the power rankings. Cincy has a HORRIBLE defense and we made them look like the Pats last night. Someone needs to go tanya harding style on Wade Smith. He was beat EVER single play. If I was Wade, I would jump off a bridge. If I was AJ Feeley, I would kick Wade Smith in the nuts then kick his dog.........

Only PRO to our offense was when we actually got the ball to Randy and Chris.... AJ actually held onto the ball when he got blindsided and took some good hits. I dont blame Ricky for retiring anymore. If I played on defense for this team, I would consider doing the same..

You cant allow another team 9 points and freakin lose the game, ESPECIALLY on an against an average team like Cincy. What the hell is going to happen when we play Denver, NE, NY, or Seattle? We are going to get raped.

5-11 this season.

yea I think im being lenient. I dont see the Bills beating us. Their offense looked almost as bad. We have a better defense than the bills, San Fran and Arizona stink, and Cleveland looked pretty bad this week also. I think those are our only 5 wins.

This offense can not get any worse.

So? Wyrick's not part of the defense?

It's called depth, and the Dolphins don't have enough of it.

The Dolphins have as much "depth" at cornerback as you will ever see in the NFL

There is another way of saying that. "They are not good enough."

No they don't. In 2000, these guys did.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh 16-0
Cincinatti at Baltimore 37-0
Baltimore at Cleveland 12-0
Baltimore at Jacksonville 15-10
Baltimore at Cincinatti 27-7
Dallas at Baltimore 27-0
Cleveland at Baltimore 44-7
San Diego at Baltimore 24-3
Baltimore at Arizona 13-7

Do you see that? In 9 games they allowed 34 points. That's a 3 point average per game.

Want to see some of the losses that Baltimore defense endured?

at Miami 6-19
at Washington 3-10
vs Tennessee 6-14
vs Pittsburgh 6-9

Is this 2004 Dolphin defense a great defense?

I don't feel sorry for them. I don't feel sorry for the coach neither. As far as Zach, JT, and the rest of the "pro bowlers"... They take the money. They take the resources.

All the comparison to Baltimore in 2000.....?....?...... Baltimore pitched a shutout in their first game in 2000. They pitched four shutouts in that year. This defense is paid more, has more name recognition, they don't put points on the board, and has never pitched a shutout.

I don't mean to join the negativity around here but we have watched Wannestedt's formula fail for two years.

This is a collaboration of front office failure over the years and coaching failures this year.

*Where is the 2003 defensive second round draft pick? I see the 2004 4th round draft pick on the field. I saw the 2004 5th round draft pick on the field. I saw the 2004 7th round draft pick on the field. Where is Wanny's second round draft pick from 2003?

*Did you see Wanny's 2003 offensive third round pick on the field? He's the one the Theisman described as the "swinging door".

*Wanny's 2003 offensive fourth round pick? Part of that failing offensive line.

*Wanny's 2003 offensive fifth round pick? Two 15 yard holding penalties last night.

*Wanny's 2003 sixth round pick? Released this past week.

We've been excusing Wanny for those two firsts given away for Ricky Williams but don't you sometimes think that with Dave running the front office it wouldn't have much mattered anyway? Somehow, in some way Dave would have screwed those two picks up...

I'm watching this year with resolve. I'm watching with the hope that somehow we will recover from Dave's poor personell decisions on the offensive side of the ball. I'm watching as a REAL personell man works his a$$ off attempting to correct the mismanagement of this team.

Seriously contemplate this... Dave Wannestedt gave Derrius Thompson 3 million a year in the same year that he gave Junior Seau 3 million a year. Do you not see the difference?

The results are an offense thrown together by a man who recognized that this team was severely lacking on one side of the ball. Why did last year's line far better than this years? They knew where to be to at least get in the way. They couldn't drive block. They were old and by the recognition of all other NFL teams......They were not NFL talent. Give this line time. At least they possess the ability to move people off of the ball. There only problem is Dave..

Dave? Yes Dave. Who got the reps in the preseason? Didn't we hear that it was unsure if Wade Smith would start? Dave's second round draft pick couldn't solidify his starting position. Dave's answer. Rotate another man in. Good job "coach".

At left guard Dave had a "competition" between his 2003 third round pick and aan undrafted free agent. The third round pick couldn't solidify the starting job. Dave's answer. Rotate another man in. Good job "coach".

At right tackle Dave had another "competition" between Rick's free agent acquisition and the first round draft pick of 2004. Dave's answer. Rotate another man in. Good job "coach".

Coach - A person who TRAINS or directs athletes or athletic teams.

I feel sorry for none of the defense. I feel sorry for an offense thrown together, ignored, and then summarily blamed for losses during a season.
We have no option but to wait and see if this OLine gels...unless the FO decides to scrap the whole deal again next year...honestly though, there was nothing about Wade Smith's performance last night that indicated lack of gelling was the ultimate problem...

that baltimore defense was one of the best all time... our defense is still incredible but no where as completely dominant as that baltimore one....

last week they gave up 10 to tennessee and this week they gave up 9 to cincy? I think thats pretty dominant. Our defense gave up 19 points so far and AJ gave up 14.......

come on man...you are comparing us to arguably the best defensive team in the HISTORY of the NFL...what defense was better than them??? The 85 Bears...maybe...look at their offensive production as welll...number we will never realize this season...that means less time for the opposing team to posses the ball

AJ has played one game in this offense. The Dolphins defense (in large part) has been together for over five years.

They admitted what they had to do in the preseason. Do it...

We had one forced turnover last night. Have you seen any points scored by our defense yet? That Raven D did.

BTW...

We were told to expect a better defense than that of 1972.

In 1972 the quarterbacks had a 55% completion rate and gave up 11 interceptions while throwing for 15 touchdowns.

The defense only gave up an average of 12 points per game.........
