It is accurate. Time to extend franchise offers lapsed. One reason he fired his agent.

I don't disagree that if a team wanted him bad enough, they could swing it, but to clear cap space could end up costing far more than the 16mil in the long run.

He very well may get "what he wants", depending on what that is. He obviously had some issues with the way his agent was handling it

The most he can do at this point is sign and play for Houston or sign/trade play for another team without an extension. A. Year deal only.
 
This would be such a "Miami" thing to do. Trading for a big ticket defensive end when you might be the worst team in the league and your offense is in a shambles in an offensive era of football is beyond incompetent. This is exactly why Chris Grier should have been shown the door when Gase was let go. This team has no clue or vision on how to build a sustained winner. If this team gives up any draft assets for a freaking oft injured, soon to be overpaid defensive end who doesn't even want to play for you when you might need as many of those assets as possible to move up in next year's draft to take a franchise qb is incomprehensible. This franchise is so dysfunctional it's almost impossible to have any hope anymore.

The thing is... we are at least 3 years away from having to pay franchise Quarterback money...so a guy like Clowney could be here long enough for a title run.

No Tunsil in the deal... or our first rounders.

I prefer a primarily player trade... I would part with Stills, Parker and even Drake in a deal.

I'd give them all up too, but only if Clowney is all in and signs long term.

Take a deep breath any really review the situation. Ross needs to sell tickets. A cheap Clowney rental for a year does that. And if he can do it without losing what he was already going to cut. Come on its a no brainer business move. In 2020 it costs us zero. And if we don't trade draft picks...how is this dysfunctional.
I feel I should go back to collegiate education...to help the future...

I'm strictly talking about his leverage he has for wear he gets traded to.
Next year he holds all the cards .This will also depend on how he performs this year.

He holds all the cards this year. This is his franchise tag year with Houston. He is in the driver's seat. Of course he has all the leverage on where he is traded. Hey Clowney Miami traded for you. Clowney - I'm not signing and extension w them. Houston - **** Miami just backed out.
