A few years back it hit me that if I could only watch one event a year between the SUPERBOWL or the NFL DRAFT, it would clearly be the NFL Draft, and the decision is not even a close one.

Basically the NFL has a six month offeseason (From the Early Feb Superbowl to teams reporting to NFL Camps in late July) and the NFL Draft is a close a midpoint to the six months as you are going to get, football fans already are in serious withdrawls for some action. The NFL Draft last two whole days wheras the Superbowl last 3.5 hours. Most football fans I know like both college and NFL, and have a favorite between the two. THE NFL Draft is the only occasion where both the college game and the NFL come together in a meanginful way, so you get tons of news and exposure to players and teams at both the college and NFL teams for two full days.
Also, all NFL teams and Major college programs are impacted by the decisions made by draft day decisions. Every NFL team is working to improve on their weaknesess wheras Superbowl only involves two teams that on about 50% of 42 games have been blowouts.
Also every NFL team and fan convince themselves at the end of the Draft that they are a better team and a new hope is injected into the upcoming campaign.
No I hope I never have to choose between watching a Superbowl or Draft, but if I did, it is a clear no brainer that the NFL Draft would win the debate.

This is my first attempt at trying a POLL so forgive me if it does not workout like I wanted, basically the poll question should be,
If you could watch only one which would it be, SUPERBOAL OF NFL DRAFT?

draft is so boring.

I hate ESPN.

I hate them for their crappy analysts.

Nfl draft is when all these guys whos opinions really are worthless get put in the limelight to go back on everything they been saying for the past year.

with the commercials going downhill and the lack of a good game (minus last year) .. i'd have to say the draft

Agreed 100%.

That's a really tough choice. The draft is incredibly exciting and all, but I couldn't imagine if I missed this year's Superbowl. I guess it really depends on the game. Some are great games that you'll always remember while others stink. Also, draft day can be dull if you've traded away all your early picks. It all depends imo.

Good post. When I first read the title it was a no-brainer for me to go with the superbowl. You make good points about the draft and I agree completely but im still lean toward the super bowl.

See the superbowl is not just a game anymore, its a holiday. Now missing the superbowl would mean I'd have to miss my own party, because honestly, I usually dont really care who wins. Im usually too drunk by the first half to really know what the hell is going on out there.

If I had to chose between the superbowl and everything that comes with it and the draft, I go to my party!

During the DOT.COM boom those commercials were funny. Kinda cruddy now, but I'd still have to say the Superbowl. The draft just drags on after the first half of the first round...

Unless we are in the Super Bowl, I'd have to say the draft, and it's not even close. I wait for this thing ALL year.

This is a really silly poll. How could you not watch the super bowl?

I've missed it a few times. It's usually a one-sided win and features teams I don't give a crap about(aka non-Dolphin teams or teams not playing our rivals). The NFL Draft is awesome, its like Christmas for every team :woot:

NFL has a great marketing departement...

Super bowl for sure. I never watch the draft. In the past I barely even paid attention. This year I'll pay attention, but still probably not watch it. Just doesnt seem exciting to me.

The Superbowl for me. I like watching the draft too, but it is too long. I'm glad they shortened the first round this year. With all the time the teams put into the draft they could have EVERY round just 5 minutes. That would add more excitement if someone is late to the podium.
