Supplemental Draft Question/Gordon to the Browns

Between Greg Little, Josh Gordon, Josh Cribbs, Ben Watson, Evan Moore, Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden...the Cleveland Browns offense has every reason to be better in 2012 than the Miami Dolphins offense. This (edit: 'this' as in the drafting of Josh Gordon) makes them a better team (edit: not necessarily meaning better than the Dolphins).

Nublar7..

Not sure how the Sup draft works.
Can you tell if the Fins put any claim in for him?

Does each team, just put a card in saying what round ( if any) they will give up for him?

The addition of Weeden improved their offense significantly. They are doing a nice job putting potential playmakers around him.

They did not put in a 1st or 2nd round claim for him. If they put in a 3rd round or later claim, that is something that will never be public knowledge. I believe they submit the round they like a player in, before the draft actually begins.

Cleveland must have thought Buffalo was going to take him in the 3rd so they panicked.

Cleveland has really restocked. Weeden. Richardson. Gordon. And didn't they take Mitchell Swartz at the top of the second?

Those 4 to go with Joe Thomas, Alex Mack, and Greg Little. They look like they are on the rise. If I were Cincinnati, I might be concerned.

if i was pittsburgh or baltimore i wouldn't...

The Supplemental draft is now over and only Gordon was selected. The other 7 players are now undrafted free agents to sign anywhere they want.

Something else to keep in mind, the 2nd round in next April's draft is now only 31 picks long. The Dolphins are likely to have a better season than the Browns, so the pick the Dolphins earn in the 2nd round will be one notch higher.

Doesn't happen often, but I made a mistake in my above post. The 2nd round in 2013 will actaully be 30 picks long. In addition to Cleveland forfeiting their pick, New Orleans is also scheduled to forfeit their pick in the 2nd round.

ck browns better than the dolphins give me a break.Because they have Brandon Weedon get over it

I absolutely agree about the Browns offensively, they clearly got better while we lost our best skill position player on that side of the ball. We have one legitimate proven NFL weapon (Bush) and he's not even that good, plus we still don't have a real quarterback. We suck on offense, people need to get over it.

We may suck but to say that the Browns are better because of Josh Gordon, Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden is reaching IMO 3 college players who have yet to play a down in the NFL. This year taking Trent Richardson over Bush and Miller maybe, Josh Gordon over Hartline or even Bess I would not bet the house and Weeden over D. Gerard or even Moore will be long shot. Next year you might have a story

Actually, in the Supplemental draft we only had one 3rd. Also to reiterate, Miami would have had to use a 1st round pick to get Gordon. We are talking about a guy that most people thought of as a 3rd, 4th or even 5th round pick.

I think what he meant was that we have two 3rds next year and so other teams knew that we could affored to give up one of those picks for a player in the sup draft this year.

Browns just gave a high 2nd for Gordon. Browns just got scam in the hype. Sucka,s

Not really, they used a 2013 draft pick to get player in 2012. He'll get a full NFL season under his belt and depending how he develops, he could be as good as a 2nd rounder next year, or even better.
