Draft is tomarrow, i believe around noon, and since its done by email/teleconference its not on tv.

The supplimental draft is under radar, as most time those picks blow up in the picker's face. Nick took a flyer on Wright..........Right now, that's dicey. That said,if he went and got Brooks, I think I'd just laugh and go along, because I knew I had a coach that was ready to go take talent where he saw it......Hey, Nick is in it to win it.

You have an opportunity to pick whenever you want. The pick you use in this years supplemental draft is forfeited in next years draft. Prognosticators are prognosticating that we will use a 5th round pick for Brooks. In which case we would not have a 5th round pick next April. Answer your question?

You can pick whoever you want whenever you want but the team with the best bid on a player wins.

So if we submit a 5th on brooks and no one else submits a 4th or has an earlier selection in the 5th we win brooks rights. If someone submits a 3rd and thats the best bid they win said players rights.

You go in with your hand of next years picks and if you choose to use one you may. It just works a little different then the regular draft.

i agree most of the picks blow up in teams faces. thats why only 1 1st (Dave Brown, QB, 1991, NYG) and 1 2nd (Tony hollings, Houston, 2003, rb) rd pick have been used since 1990.

Among the multiple flaws with the supplemental players are that they generally consist of players with issues (brooks, Berryman), injuries (someone like a Tony Hollings that was viewed as a 2nd rd pick but had knee surgery) or compete on a small scale (David Dixon) at junior colleges and generally cannot get combine invites to measure themselves vs everyone else. Rarely, do you see the player who attended a pro day or something and wanted to see how they stack up, decided not to enter the draft, and then changes his mind. Almost always there is a reason.

Dave Brown was a rare example of a player who knew his hype was greater then it would ever be and he was exected to go in round 2 but because the Giants had a late pick that year he went in round 1).

Brooks is by far the biggest name to come out in a number of years and thats why theres so much press about it.

The only thing I disagree on is your assessment of Manny Wright as he played really well down the stretch when he saw the field.

Saban knows the importance of value; giving Ricky another chance on a small contract, drafting Crowder in the third round, trading a 2nd for Culpepper, giving Marcus Vick a shot on the team.

Brooks for a 3rd, a 4th, even a 2nd rounder is GREAT value, and I definitely see us putting in a bid to draft him tomorrow. Whether or not we're willing to give up more than the 49ers is the question.

Let me guess, when the teacher used to ask questions to the class, you would raise your hand and when she called on you, you would say "teacher I don't know". lol
Sorry, I couldn't resist. BTW the supp draft is tomorrow. It is not on TV.

oh i see now.

I don't understand how this guy wasn't drafted?

I hope we don't give up nothing too crazy for this guy.
