who do we cut? Do we keep AJ around and his hefty contract knowing that the he will be grooming the heir-apparent or quite possibly the 3rd stringer? Rosenfels and Frerotte are quite cheap and Frerotte knows Linehan's system so I think both of them are safe.

Personally, I hope they don't draft a QB this high. I think Feeley has promise and we could use that pick addressing another need but I'm just curious as to how this will all play itself out if we do draft Smith.

I agree A.J showed some what talent towards the end of the season and by drafting a QB you have 4 QB`s when u only need 3 of them i hope we either take 1 of the big 3 RB`s or Braylon and draft a McPherson in the 3rd or a Frank Gore or Cietric Fason

We cut Rosenfells and give AJ this year to show us he is good. Give Smith some time to develop behind him and decide what to do next season. Maybe AJ has a great season and we can trade him for a mid round pick.

OK, so in essence Frerotte was signed to be a 3rd stringer under this scenario right?

No.. Smith would be 3rd string in this scenario.

That seems like it could work out better but I wouldn't feel good about spending such a high pick and so much money (as you know Tom Condon is his agent and he's going to want beaucoup bucks) on a guy who probably won't even get a snap next season.

Smith is the guy we put in during garbage time (I hope we have that garbage time ahead, not behind.... :D ).

Frerrote is the natural backup.

It's like a RB situation where one RB is the third-down back, one the starter, and one the "starter-backup". That's the situation I think the Chiefs had with L.J and Blaylock.

Feeley and ferrote will battle it out in Mini Camps and Preseason the loser will be the 2nd string qb. If they did draft Smith he wud be 3 string and slowly rise up depht chart as season moves on. Hell Saban cud decide to pull the trigger mid-way though season and make Smith the stater depending on how we r doing.

I can picture Saban telling Feeley to fake an injury near goal line and put Smith in the game followed by cheers from the crowd Smith runs it in for td and the Smith era begins ;)

You would think they woud cut Sage. He only has a one year contract and it is a vet min contract. If the pick is Rogers however I don't know. Rogers IMO can start righ away. With him starting and Frerotte backing him up, I wouldnt see Feeley as a 3rd stringer, so he could be moved. Most likely though it would be Sage.

We'd do what SD did. If we get Smith, we have almost exactly the same QB scenario: an incumbent QB that cost a 2nd rounder, a high draft pick QB, and an over-the-hill aging QB. And if the arrival of the rookie spurs the incumbent to perform better than it's all good as long as we're winning.

if we do draft him ,I think we will do like San Diego did last year, trade him right away
