PSUFinFan said:True Wannstedt wasnt the best judge of talent, true he forced the team to fit his gameplan instead of the other way around, but this kid wasnt a "Barry Clone." There was a reason he was passed over so many times in the draft, there is a reason he was cut from the team, and there is a reason he didnt earn a carry for chicago who was nearly as desperate as we were at running back.
What is that reason?
No, he is not Barry Sanders, but built like him and runs like him. If Wanny were picking and Barry were on the board, he woould pass b/c Barry can not hammer it between the tackles. Many teams would pass on Barry coming out of college now. He was not fast, big, and does not show leadership skills. The top things the scouts look at:
40 time
Strength
receiving ability
ability to pick up the blitz
Size
Character
locker room presence
Barry was below average in more than half. That is why he would fall in the new era draft. Do not get me wrong, I believe he was the best to ever play the game!!!!!
My point is size was the main knock on him. Scouting reports said that he had talent but lacked ideal size to be a top back in the NFL!!!
