Saban has periodically given the 36-year-old Traylor days off from practice in an attempt to keep the 6-foot-2, 350-pounder healthy. Traylor has 38 tackles, including two sacks, which ties his career high.
"It makes a big difference for us up front when he's not in the middle," Saban said. "He eats up two blockers a lot, and I think that affected us early in the game in terms of our ability to stop the running plays."
Traylor will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, but isn't expected to play Sunday against the Chargers, who feature running back LaDainian Tomlinson, the AFC's second leading rusher with 1,172 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Veteran defensive tackle Jeff Zgonina will again start in Traylor's place.
Frerotte expects to play
Quarterback Gus Frerotte, who was knocked unconscious by Bills linebacker London Fletcher for a safety in the third quarter, said on his weekly radio show on 790 The Ticket that he is recovered from a concussion and expects to play Sunday.
"No, I'm going to take all the [repetitions in practice] and prepare to play San Diego," Frerotte told 790 host Boog Sciambi when asked whether backup Sage Rosenfels would take more snaps in practice than usual this week.
Rosenfels brought the Dolphins back from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter and directed a 24-23 victory over the Bills. Saban said Monday that if Frerotte passed a battery of medical tests Tuesday, he would remain the starter.
Jets tickets available
The Dolphins will place a limited number of tickets on sale at 1 p.m. today for their Dec. 18 home game against the New York Jets. Tickets are available through the team's Web site and Ticketmaster outlets.

After starting the first 11 games, Traylor was placed on the inactive list Sunday when he was unable to loosen up his knee in warm-ups.
"Traylor woke up [Sunday] with his knee as bad as it's been all year," coach Nick Saban said last week when explaining why he left Traylor off the official injury list. After starting the first 11 games, Traylor was placed on the inactive list Sunday when he was unable to loosen up his knee in warm-ups.
