..according to Jim Mora on the NFl Network tonight, it's Mia's vanilla schedule. That's rich. No mention from Mr. Playoffs?????? if strength of schedule had anything at all to do with his 3-13 to 13-3 season in 1999 (I get the sense he's a tad jealous that Colts team won't be remembered for the greatest turnaround after yesterday). Also, coincidently, Mia was one of the 3 teams that beat the colts that year.

So how many teams with a winning records did those colts beat? 4 (Phins, Bills, KC, and washington). wow big diff.

Ironically, Terrell davis, who has been shrugging off the phins all year long (that's Ok, he's easily the worst paid NFL 'anayist' there is) mentioned that in professional football EVERY win is difficult and said that Chad P is actually the biggest reason our season turned around, which is, well, logical.

BTW the nearly undefeated Pats and SB favorite Jets (at least after the tenn win) played virtually the same schedule.

Here's a great thread by another FinsHeaven member that breaks down how our schedule (why obviously not hard) isn't as easy as some make it out to be (ie/is SD, now a division winner, now not considered a worthy opponent even though they went 8-8?) check it out:

I believe we beat both the Pats and the Jets... oh, and the divisional champ Chargers... and the could have been champ Broncos...

I say the biggest reason for the turnaround is the Tuna! Right behind that, Sparano and Ireland. Obviously Pennington is the most on the field cause, but you've got to give the front office the nod for building up our trenches and being smart enough to bring in the right QB for the job (something we seemed to have been well off the mark on in previous years).

Tuna is the magic man, his track record speaks for itself. But I think sparano is cut from the same cloth and he's learned enough that his effect was felt by the team alone.

We beat every team in the division at least once, tied for first at 11-5 with tie-breakers. If the Pats had swept us and we pulled out a win at Houston, they could make a good case to *****. We are the best team in the AFC East, and thats not talking tie-breakers or strength of schedual, thats a fact.

An interesting aspect to using the Chad Pennington is our savior argument is that if one wants to argue that as their point. They should also be willing to say that the Jets made a big mistake in discarding an elite level QB and replaced him with a washed up has been. That point seems to never be touched upon.

The media has successfully discounted Pennington's accomplishments here and has misdirected the Jets failures onto Mangini. Mangini did not want Favre. Hess forced him to accept him. Mangini was told by Hess here is your new QB you better win us a super bowl or find yourself a new gig. Hess foolishly tried to buy NY a Super bowl, so he could sell seats in his new stadium.

I'm not going to go into a long dialog of why the Dolphins have had success this season. I liked and respected him before he signed here and he well exceeded my expectations. He is not the only reason our Dolphins are 11-5, AFC East champions, but he is certainly a big contributor. Props to Chad.

If the media wants to pinpoint our success on him, so be it. I could bring many other arguments to the table but not going to bother. If however they want to make that argument then they must also concede that Pennington is a Superior QB to Favre and it was a huge mistake and that move by them was a downgrade at that position. They however wont go there. Somehow they seem to still manage to spin things as Favre being the great QB that he really isn't. I use to think Donovan McNabb was the most over rated QB in the league, but this year it clearly is Favre.

I guess in my typically long winded fashion I am saying that it really bothers me that they all seem to be afraid to say that Favre sucks. How can they say that Favre's unsuccessful season with the Jets is on Mangini but Pennington's success in Miami isn't because of Sporano.

Mangini didn't want Favre?
Are you aware that Mangini agreed to name his son after Favre if Favre signed with the Jets?
And that's why Mangini's son (who was born on Favre's birthday) is named Zack Brett.

And Leon Hess forced Mangini to accept Favre?
Are you aware that Leon Hess died in 1999?

Making it to the Super Bowl would pretty much render the "strength of schedule" argument moot. So lets just go ahead and do that so we don't have to hear that crap anymore.

Once again.. these "experts" and "analysts" succeed to embarass themselves. You'd think Jim Mora would do research of his former team at least, good grief.

Actually, if that had happened, Pats would be 12-4 and have won the division. The reason we got in over the Pats is that we lost to Arizona and they lost to San Diego. Since the Chargers are in the AFC and that's the tiebreaker it came down to, we got in.

I'm as ecstatic as anyone that we got into the playoffs, and although I think that the point about us being the best in the AFC East is debatable, we did win the games we had to win down the stretch. So we earned it, and tough luck for the Pats.

I do agree we had an easy schedule, but that does not explain the extent of our turn-around. Yeah, you can chalk up 5 games as easy...but we also beat another 6 teams that weren't easy. (NE, BUF 2X, SD, Denv, NY). If we won 6 games, like many people expected, you could say it was schedule. I would say the schedule really contributed 2 extra games to our record...so even if you handicap us that way...9-7 is a pretty good record also!!!

Will this team ever escape the "easy schedule curse" and just get some credit thrown their way? First it was everyone complaining that the perfect season wasn't that perfect because of an easy schedule. Now we have clowns saying that our cinderella turn around season was only because of a...*gasp!*...easy schedule. Gimmie a break.

They just can't accept that we are the greatest! :d-day::wink:
:beer1:

I wonder what Jim Mora is going to say after we beat the Ravens this week ?

They are running out of excuses every day.

I guess every team that played the NFC west had an easy Schedual.I think the fact that our team stayed healthy all year had a pretty big impact on our record.
