Take your power rankings and shove it!

Look guys, enough's enough with the power rankings or various other media rankings put on by sportswriters across the nation. It is beyond me why I open up Finheaven during the start of the week and see a rash of "Why don't they like us boo hoo hoo waaaahhhh waaah" posts. Those of you who seem to put an inordinate amount of stock in some writers theoretical football hierchary - HAVE SOME FREAKIN' PERSPECTIVE.

Seriously, look at yourselves, you're getting all in an uproar over some guy who simply doesn't have the same outlook on the team as you do. Does that really surprise you? Consider the facts guys, the Dolphins are are team. You're simply by nature going to be a little more optimistic(well most of you anyway) about where we stand compared to the rest of the NFL. That's the way it is. The moment anyone starts showing skepticism towards the Fins, all of the sudden the anti-haters sprout up, clamoring with excessive posts about the team not getting any respect.

What respect is it we're supposed to be getting by the way? I seemed to have missed tthat or never got the memo on what respect we've earned after 3 games and a bye. Call me crazy, but winning playoff games and SuperBowls win you the respect. Perhaps I'm preaching to a bunch of guys still reeling from the abuse we took in the media and from fans of other teams from last year's debacle. Ya'll are getting way too defensive. Again, we've only played 3 games since that catastrophe last year - 3 GAMES!!!!. It's going to take time to win back the respect. Some of you need to sack up and take notice of this, otherwise you're going to be causing yourself uneeded stress for the rest of the season.

It is blatantly obvious we're an improved team.........that's definately the concensus in the media and from fans of the NFL. Feel good about that guys....... remember how bad last year felt and then look at what's transpired so far..........but don't take it any farther than that. That's just downright greedy and stupid if you ask me. Spare us the dramatics already and turn in your forum-firestarter cards for some patient ones.

I fail to see the point. Who cares from Joe Shmoe thinks. It's all about how you feel about your team.
 
Didnt read your entire post, however, I agree with the power rankings meaning nothing. Who cares? What do we gain from that? Nothing really. Maybe the refs call less flags if they see us as the NFLs elite team. But that comes from winning superbowls, not power rankings.

All power rankings can do is create clutter for the players. Make them start to feel better about themselves then they really are. Let the pats get all the hype, so every team can bring their best game when they play them.
 
Respect is won, not given. Power rankings mean less than nothing, something for the talking heads to blow crap all over each other with. Good post man.

Because it get annoying...sometimes..it's like we should be judge as teams who were in the playoffs last year. We're only 3 games in this year and people think we should be top 5. Let the team earn the respect like they should, over time of consistent and good football with W's to show for their efforts. It like if any body says some guy or part of another team is better than ours, there's all out fight about our guys are better...let it work itself out on the field first..Once the team produces then it easy to talk around. Before the game is speculation, but ppl act like it's a fact and the game hasn't even been played. This season could see us 2-14 or 15-1 at this point, but none of us know..but what we do know is what we've seen in the first 3 games..and that this point, it's a mixed reveiw.

Other people's fun gets annoying? hmm...

Some of the power ranking's are based on stats, not opinions.

This is a pretty weak complaint. Next you guys will be complaining about how people discuss the point spread.

Thats not the point. I guess there are some based on stats, but that doesn't explain the wide range of rankings, with no reason to them. Surely it doesn't dictate your teams worth in any way...worthless

Note the "sometimes"...basically when ppl start the we're the best at everything, when it's not factually true. I'm a homer too, but with a little perspective.

you guys r acting like this is really u life, we arent the coaches or w/e...all we are, are fans...period. we like that stuff and its interesting. we dont really need some guy to come and tell us what we should listen to or not. if it annoying, dont read it...and if its still annoying you should look at urself and realize u a little to obessed with something that u should only like for the sole purpose of liking it.

I've got a solution for you...Don't read them..then you won't need a seperate thead to complain about them...

I enjoy looking at them weekly to see where the so called experts have us ranked...But I take them with a grain of salt along with everyone else's opinion from finheaven...
