The 49ers are unconcerned about free agent LB Takeo Spikes' ability to recover from shoulder surgery and believe he'd be ready for training camp.
The team remains interested in signing the veteran linebacker, but Spikes has been seeking a better contract elsewhere. If no team steps up, he's likely to sign with San Francisco to be the team's "ted" linebacker next season.

He's washed up

I saw him play all season in Philadelphia and watched him become a virtual non-factor in a linebacking corps that was weak to begin with, and ended up stronger when Spikes wasn't involved.
