On Saturday I was on my way back to Montreal from Antigua. However we had a stop-over in Toronto. After the plane landed in Toronto and passengers are boarding, who do I see walking down th aisle, Ricky Williams. Noone even recognized him! As he approached me we made eye contact and he said "what's up", I smiled back and said "hey Ricky", he smiled back again and proceded by sitting 2 rows behind me, not even 1st class! He was wearing a white t-shirt, white track pants and sandals. Man at this point I felt like it was a dream.
After the plane was in the air, I gathered enough guts and went and crouched down next to him. I asked him if he liked the CFL and if he was looking forward to being back in the NFL. He kind of avoided the CFL question and told me how he missed his fellow teamates down in Miami. He told me that Ronnie was the man and that "the team down there was a great one" He especially highlited COACH SABAN as being great. I then told him how I wished he was with the team this year and that he had alot of supporters and fans out there and that he should take andvantage of his carreer as a proathletes career is a short one. He then noded his head and the feeling I got from his look was oone of ' man I wish I would have done things differently'. I also gave him an example of myself being 35 yrs old and living in Montreal and being such a die hard Dolphins fan who has maybe missed 3 games in the past 14 years. He gave me such a look of suprise and I really think that my statement kind of hit home. Not to say that I affected him in any way but it kind of surprised him. I then wished him all the best and shook his hand and went back to my seat. (no autograph or anything)
When we landed I expected him to meet up with this hot chick. But to my surprise who greeted him...................a 5'2" Buddhist monk dressed in orange. WOW! Ricky you are special. Still felt like a dream.
I know there are alot of Ricky haters and bashers and all that bad stuff. BUT, Ricky is a special invidual with rare talent. He is a very kind and gentle human being who would never harm anyone except for his selfish reasons. After all he is only human.
My feeling is that the CFL is only a stepping stone for him for whatever reason , maybe to stay in shape or for the money. Ragardless, I don't think he likes it too much. But I think he still has alot of milege in his body and that he will be back with Miami next year.

P.S. I don't post too often but I really appreciate all your informative comments and feedbacks to one another. I must check in 3-4 times a day with Finheaven. Thanks go for this site. You are all great and I hope you all enjoyed my experience on Saturday. I was really lucky especially that he had just played a game that same day.

Could have been one of those hare krishna guys trying to sell him a flower. The hot chick was probably running late.

If he prayed to a christian god no one would question him, but because he's spiritual in a less traditional sense he's seen as weird. Whatever, the guy can play and can seek guidance from Budda and I don't see the big deal.

Good story, thanks for sharing.

WOW! That must have been really cool. It's good to hear that a fan with class as yourself approached him with such respect. I'm sure Ricky really appreciated it. He is indeed a very special human being. I really look up to Ricky in many ways.

Very cool....Very cool.

:chuckle: j/k...

seriously, what an awesome story bro  thanks for sharing
was it hard not to ask him for an autograph?

I'm glad to hear he misses Miami. I bet he never really thought about the pressure he'd be facing in Toronto being a premier NFL player and all...he's probably feeling a bit like he did with Miami back in 2002 and 2003.

Very cool....Very cool.

My exact thoughts too!.... way to go. Life is all about experiences, and I'm sure that is one you won't forget. Not asking him to sign a piece of paper for you made the experience even better for Ricky...meeting a true fan so far away from Miami. Glad you told ricky there are still big supporters of him despite his suspension

If he prayed to a christian god no one would question him, but because he's spiritual in a less traditional sense he's seen as weird.

I don't know what religion Williams is before, after or whenever but he hasn't necessarily converted to a Bhuddist. I imagine with the yoga training, holistic medicine classes and lifestyle changes like becoming a vegatarian he consults with lots of people for knowledge and advising.

He weighed 250 lbs while playing for the Saints and 200 lbs when he returned to camp after his retirement.

A muscular guy with low body fat and in good shape loses 50 lbs?

He's been through many changes....I bet he's the only vegatarian NFL football player around.

I'm a Ricky Williams fan and I was disappointed when he retired and also with his latest suspension but I remain a fan anyway.

That was a very cool story, I'd like to meet him and pick his brain and ask a few questions. I'm sure he'd be very interesting to talk to as well as knowledgable about the things he's learned in the last couple of years.

Very awesome story. That must of been a pretty cool experience to converse with Ricky on that type of level. Mad props! :)
