Active Roster
Living here in Tampa I have been able to watch all of the Bucs games thusfar. There are a few observations I have made that should boost everyone's confidence because I don't think they are as good as their record reflects.
Cadillac Williams is pretty damn good. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he's better then Ronnie but his upper body strength is amazing. He has a supernatural ability to twist out of tackles and get 2 or 3 yards after initial contact. That being said, he isn't that great of a receiver and he doesn't bounce outside so he will probably be forced to run through our front seven. NOBODY runs through Miami's front seven. I would be surprised if he broke 100 yards against us. It's not an issue of him being bad, it's just that he doesn't match up well against our D.
Brian Griese sucks. We have all known this since that game against the colts that I was unfortunate enough to attend. Bucs fans know this and bucs coaches know this and try to keep the load off his shoulders. If we can force the load back on to his shoulders by stopping Caddy then apply pressure we will dominate. This is their weak spot, this is where we can win the game.
Offensive Line: Average. Their offensive line is nothing special but it isn't horrible either. They don't make the stupid penalties like ours but they aren't as good at pass protection.
Wide Receivers: This is what scares me most about their team. They have a solid WR core. Galloway is old but still has speed and ability on top of a breakout season. Michael Clayton was the 2nd best WR in last year's draft, behind only Fitzgerald. Clayton is turning into one of the best possession receivers in the NFL and will be pesky. We don't need to worry about Hilliard, through 4 games he only has 33 yards on 5 catches. Madison and Daniels should be able to cover them but if somehow Galloway gets matched up with Howard it could be a quick 80 yarder.
Tight Ends: Alex Smith is average, Anthony Becht is average, but the Bucs love 2 TE sets. They use this for the extra protection and the added receiving threat. Smith and Becht have 7 and 6 catches this year respectively and are used mostly to block. The key here is that the fins need to figure out a way to punch through and get into the backfield before Galloway and Clayton can get open.
