The reports early today are that they fired Lovey Smith because Miami started to poke around Koetter. I thought Lovey was doing well with Tampa Bay even though they had a losing season, but doing this to Keep Koetter is interesting.

how strong are we going after him, I havent seen him at all on the board unless I missed that thread. Does anyone have any insight?

who would be better? Gase or Koetter?

The Dolphins have put in a request with the Bucs to interview their OC Dirk Koetter. Koetter hasn't interviewed with Miami yet, though.

Yes this is very interesting. Shows Tampa's hand how they value him. To fire Lovie who is a well respected HC is bold. Hope Miami still interviews him though I highly doubt it now. Tampa is probably already finalizing a contract to make Koetter there next HC so he probably won't be interviewing with any team. I had read reports that Miami wanted to interview him but had not set up an official one. Other teams were looking at him as well.

Next question: How does Lovie fit in our HC search?

forgive me for asking but can Tampa loop the Rooney Rule because Koetter is in house?

Koetter would be a legit candidate.

The question is...why would he chose Miami over Tampa? If offered by both?

if Koetter wants to interview with us can the organization decline? because they are so hard up to keep him

Good question. My guess is "officially" no because they have to satisfy the Rooney Rule and Koetter can interview with other teams until that happens and Tampa makes him an offer. But "unofficially" they could have a deal in place and Koetter may refuse to interview any where else.

that's really shady and a crappy way to do business but whatevs

Tampa is a better job.

I think right now...it is a much better job...especially for him and already having a year into Winston...will allow them to keep some continuity in developing their QB.

“Hi Lovie! Thanks so much for hiring this great, young coordinator in Dirk Koetter! We like him so much, we’re firing you!” - The Bucs

What is funny is that at week 3 or 4 during the 2014 season, many were saying the same thing would happen with Lazor and Philbin...boy did that go south quickly.

Also...Jeff Darlington has been savage the last week of so....

They are all over the place.
