Well i was listening to the sports radio here in Tampa and every 30 minutes the mentioned that the saints are to release AD McPherson and that the dolphins were the number one contender in signing him through waivers..sorry to bring up another AD McPherson thread but i just wanted to point out that its more than just a rumor here on the boards...

Don't tell that to the Saints fans who joined today.

That echoes what the Herald said today. I have a question though, are we still #2 on the waivers? The waiver system has the worst record as #1 and the best record at #32(I know that sounded like a Madden quote  ) Does the waiver wire still follow the 2004 season before the 2005 season officially starts in September?

i'm not sure but they were saying we were the most intersested and the most likely to get him off waivers

We're 0-3 now, does it matter? :)

Why would they waive McPhearson? Makes no sense.... They were really talking him up after they drafted him.. What has he done to warrant being waived so early?

The 49ers probably wouldn't be that interested, so he would fall to us waivers easily if it works that way.

Somebody please tell me. What the hell is so special about gambler McPherson?

What I want to know is IF (and that is a big IF) McPherson was released and IF (another big IF) we decided to pursue him, who would we release? I think the more likely scenario is that IF he were to be released we'd be interested in him as a PS player. I can't see him beating out Sage.

Guys it's not happening, people look and see that McPherson played last against the Seahawks and none against the Patriots and people beleive McPherson is going to be released. It makes good sports radio, but it's not happening. McPherson is looked at as a possible starter in three years, he's raw, he's been compared as a raw Mike Vick and the Saints are not letting him go anywhere. He will see plenty of playing time this Friday against the Ravens I'd suspect. Kingsbury will be released unless he beats out Todd Bouman, Kingsbury can beat out McPherson, but it won't earn him a roster spot, McPherson is the 3rd qb, Bouman and Kingsbury will fight to backup Brooks. Both Brooks and McPherson already have secured roster spots. But hey I do think you guys will get Rohan Davey, I wouldn't mind him as the Saints backup qb, but it would cause too much friction. Also if the Saints had decided to release McPherson their would be a riot in New Orleans. I was at the game, week 1 against the Seahawks, McPherson got the biggest erruption from the crowd of anyone all night long. He's not going anywhere I'm truly sorry to tell you guys.

If you claim him he goes on your 53 man roster, if he passes waivers he could be added to a practice squad, but McPherson is staying in New Orleans. He will not be released at all, he is a three year project player for the Saints and they knew that when he was drafted.

I think he offers simply a ray of hope for those who believe our current QB's are hopeless. That's probably it. Face it, anybody who becomes available now is probably no better than what we have, otherwise they'd be kept (although the Saints are known as one of those stupid management teams historically). Who knows what they might give up. But I got news people. Nobody's going to play well behind our line until they improve, which they will. Griese proved it - not so good here- pretty good at Tampa last year with some help.
