just a thought...in regards to defenses being geared to shut ronnie brown down, and ricky williams returning, and expectations being low in regards to this being a rebuilding year...why not start ricky and brown in the same backfield, and see what happens?

i think it will happen at times. We'll line Ronnie up at full back from time to time to give a different look.

you've also got to remember Lamar Gordon, he's the forgotten man in the ronnie/ricky saga. he is a very competent back that is capable of putting up decent #'s.

I think the trio in the backfield is going to be crazy. Some teams don't have even one true starting running back and we have three. It's just scary! Just hope that we can have the lead in the 4th qtr. Everything else will be down hill.

i think it will happen, more like st. louis does with steven jackson and marshall faulk, it could be a draw play to ricky or a pass to ronnie or they both could be a distraction to the defense so we can throw it out to one of the WR's......its a very good idea and it will happen i believe

Welcome Volphinsfan! Sounds like you support my two favorite teams! Are you in the Knoxville area?

I would like to see that, it kind of reminds me of when the heat put in Shaq and Zo, a killer combination indeed.

If I was a de on the opposing team, I will probably be scared.

Ronnie/Ricky: :D

Me:  :escape:

How are brown and Gordon "true starting RB" when neither has been a 'true starter" in the NFL (and brown not even a true starter in college). TO BE CLEAR, I'm not saying they don't have the potential to be the best 3-RB set in the NFL, and personally I think they can be. But it can just as easily flop the other way -- meaning Brown could be a first-round bust (as many ist rounders have before him), Gordon could return to the 3.2 YPC back-up kind of RB he's always been, and ricky could quite possibly not be the same RB ever again.
I hope none of that will come true, and truth be told I doubt it will, but you have to think about it in the real world

Maybe but because I am an optimistic person, and a dolphins fan, all three are quality backs right now. We shall see what the season says.

There is no doubt that we will see this happening once RW serves his suspension...RB will be the FB or H-back and be able to be split out as a receiver on certain downs, be a decoy for to open up the box for RW running inside, or have the ability to run the ball himself and defenses won't know where the ball is coming from or going to...

Linehan likes to open up the field, spread out his RBs and receivers and then have multiple options, including short screen type and swing type passes that would play right into Brown's strength (open field running)...for that matter, what could be more frightening to a safety who has come up to cover the swing pass and have either RW or RB coming at them with a full head of steam ?? Both are very good at making the first guy miss...

the hidden benefit to this is #81 will almost surely be in single coverage 75%-90% of the time...can you say bootleg heaven?

I think that's why Saban brought in a guy like Linehan. He's very creative and does a good job of using the players he has rather than trying to make them fit into his scheme.
