Love where this team is at right now. Re-sign Tanny asap!

I'm gonna pull one outta my ass here, but it smells like roses. There's really only one other QB in the NFL that has this kind of demeanor. Happens to be, that gentleman is Aaron Rodgers. Happens to be, that gentleman was also coached by Joe Philbin. I smell a link here b/w the way these two QB's carry themselves around their team as cool and calculated. I have no doubt that Lazor and Marino have been an incredible influence to Tannehill. But I also have no doubt that Philbin has had a lot with Tannehill's development as well despite the agenda and ludicrous statements that some people have pushed around in foolishly proclaiming that this team some how succeeds in spite of coach Joe.

Tannehill, like a boss.

I've been on the fence til now but with an improved OL and a rising Sims..

the long ball thing? not much hope there

our OL coach is a stud, we need to give him a probowl G and depth at T

I wouldn't sign him. Tannehill still has ?'s and there's lots of them. Bad footwork in the pocket, Struggles to throw ball 20 yrds in air, still see too many bad decisions, accuracy issue. Just looking at his QB rating and completion percentage, it's fools gold. He only throws the ball 5 yards down the field. I also think the reason for this is to make up for a depleted OL. Even with the short quick passes he is still getting hit. Can't dial up a long pass or sit it pocket to go through progressions, OL can't block long enough. It's a make shift offense since the Albert injury. Takes away from judging Tannehill correctly. I would draft a QB in the 2nd,3rd round and let Tannehill play his final year. If he improves, either sign him then or tag him. Work on a contract extension. To sign him now, or pick up his option, thats just crazy. No way, he has done nothing to warrant 15mill/year

This thread is about Ryan Tannehill, not Geno Smith.

OK,if not Tannehill who???? Who are we going to sign/draft that pleases all the doom and gloomers? If we start over then your looking at 2-3 years of rebuilding or waiting for the new QB to adjust to the NFL.

Let's be happy you're not the Fins gm.

I watched the Cowboys -Bears last night ...the Bears are paying their franchise QB , 7 yr -126 Million, over 18 mil/year....would you trade QB's straight up ? I think not.

Yeah, you are pretty far out on your limb there, SoS. As in , that's really hard to prove. However, it does appear that, like Rodgers, Tannehill's greatest strengths are his utter unflappable demeanor and resolve. He is a constant source of reassurance I know I would appreciate were I his team mate. He is also like a sponge in terms of intelligence and coachability, along with possessing physical gifts most NFL QBs can only dream of.

If what you are saying is that you think, like Rodgers, Tannehill could become a feared juggernaut in this league, I can not dispute that possibility.

Now, it appears that you are also saying that this could not have been just luck on our part? That Philbin, despite his apparent bumbling, understood who and what he drafted with diabolical purpose and intention? That Philbin had a master plan, a vision, for this QB and team? HAH!!!

Well SoS, if we go by what this forum has determined to be the bottom line on Philbin, you might as well start preparing your exile to the funny farm today.

You're kidding, right? Do you even know what you are looking at? RT has excellent footwork and good throwing mechanics.
Struggles to throw ball 20 yrds in air ... He only throws the ball 5 yards down the field.
Do you even watch the games? The perfectly lofted pass that Wallace tried to one-hand against the Jets was 25 yards from the los and RT took a 5 step drop. He threw 15 yard bullets to Sims and 20 yard completions to Landry[/QUOTE]
Still see too many bad decisions, accuracy issue.
20 TDs and 9 INTs with 7 games over 70% completion for the season including the LAST 5 GAMGES IN A ROW with 9 TDs and 3 INTs over the same period says you are wrong.
Can't dial up a long pass or sit it pocket to go through progressions
Again, WTF are you watching? He's absolutely been going through his progressions and hitting the right receivers. Gruden talked about it at length during the last game and he showed it repeatedly against the Broncos as well as the Bills.

Put some elite skill around him like a Julius Thomas type TE and a Larry Fitzgerald type WR and he would be a top 5 QB in this league, no doubt.
