The blood alcohol level of Tank Williams did not exceed the legal limit. Charges were dropped. I got this off NFL Network...no link, sorry.
But did the Bears release him prematurely? I think so...I know he has a checkered past, but this definitly makes him more of a desirable acquisition...for nothing.

We didn't release him prematurely. We didn't cut him directly because he was possibly driving drunk, we cut him because he became too much of a distraction. The fact that he was caught up in this in the first place just made his situation more difficult. There's a reason why this aint an Urlacher or a Grossman getting caught in these circumstances. Point is, other than the fact he was actually impaired (legally over the limit for some vehicles) to the slightest degree, this was a distraction whether he got busted or not. And Tank seems to cause too many distractions.

Other teams, be my guest at taking him. Tank is one of those guys who is actually a nice guy, but he surrounds himself with the wrong people. He doesn't handle himself in the most utmost professional way possible and suffers as a consequence.

Before he was looking at 8 games suspension with the possibility of having it reduced to 6 games. I know he wasn't charged, but just being in the situation makes me wonder if he won't get the games reduced.

Was Tank Williams a great player or just a good fit for the Bears system? I didn't watch too much of him last year.
