Tannehill had a horrible game and no sane fan would dispute that. Since I consider myself mostly sane, I will also agree.

However, he was dealing with his third OC in this his 4th year, and this time the scheme was changed to a run heavy O, take more snaps under center, and he can now audible.

We have all seen Big Ben and Peyton really struggle with scheme changes after having a full camp to adapt but Ryan gets less than a week to basically change everything he has been doing for over a year and a half with someone who has never called plays, let alone been an OC.

I cannot judge anything here.

Jarvis had 2 catches for 5 years i believe. i was glad to see them emphasize the run but that was poor game planning from Zack Taylor who is over his head.
Good throw and catch to Parker but 9 for 19 with just 86 yards was not good.
Thank goodness the D bailed them out.

He's in year 4. Time to stop with the excuses. They were using the same playbook that was already installed. And he was working with his QB coach that has been there since he was a rookie.

Granted, the scheme sucks and I can't wait to boot that ****ty system the F out of here at the end of the year.

****ty day - no excuses. RT blew.

Moving on to next week.

I'm pretty sure the scheme was the same that we ran with Lazor. And that's the problem, this scheme doesn't work anymore.

The only difference for Ryan was having a new play-caller sending him the calls, and having more emphasis on the running game, limiting his passing opportunities and rhythm.

Hang on there, he did not have to change everything he has been doing. They changed the plays to more run calls and less pass calls. Nothing else. Tannehill had a bad day, plain and simple. I did like to see he took off and ran a few times, and it would be nice if he and Cameron could get on the same page. Now let's see what they bring against the Giants. Tannehill can run this offense, he has done it before and he can do it again.

some of the fault that we have 4 OC is on him, he is the new coach killer when talking about QB, some QB are just good enough that a team will try to build around but they can never get over the hump so they blame everyone else, that would be Stafford and Bradford right now.....then you have those guys who are not at that level and they bounce around from team to team like Cassel, Hoyer, Fitzpatrick, McCown both of them, and Weeden.....RT is another bad season away from being in that second group.....

The irony is the last 3 years everyone complained he couldn't connect on deep passes....last year he had 9 games where he completed 70% of his passes or better.....this year he has done much much better goung downfield but he's been missing the short to medium that he used to complete. He's been rushed and hit a lot thought but here's the biggest problem imo....he doesn't keep plays alive like big Ben or Luck or Wilson....he's good at running with the football but only when is by desing....he never seems to take off when the play/protection breaks down and that's part of the reason he gets sack so often....if he would just learn to take off even for a 2 yard gain is much better than taking a sack that puts you on 2nd and 17. I have supported Tanny cause he's on our team but even though he has some talent and a great arm, the lack time playing the position in college shows....I have no idea if he'll turn the corner....hard to playing behind that oline but he also needs to learn how to help himself by using his legs and head way better.

The only thing I saw different was less bubbles and more rushes.

Tannehill did add that deep ball to Parker to the play calls. Need to keep that up. Campbell was adamant about running the ball all game so the passing game never had a chance from the get go.

While I agree that he should take off more, the problem is that the defense plays 10 guys within 8 yards of the LOS. That means that if he takes off, he will get killed more often than not because no one has cleared out the short and intermediate zones. This O plays in the those zones. Rich Gannon used to be the king of putting the ball down and gaining huge yardage because all backs and receivers cleared out LBs and CBs in the Gruden offense. This O doesn't do that so there will be less ops to run for the QB on play breakdowns. How is that in his first 2 years he would improvise more than he has in his last 2 years? Did he go stupid and forget that he could leave the pocket and run?

Yea i think hes been the league too long to keep making excuses for piss-poor play. The guy is flat out average at best.

it was a ****ty game to be sure, however, he didn't turn the ball over, and didn't take a lot of sacks. horrible game by the O, but we're used to it by this point.

There were weather issues. The ball slipped out of Tannehill's hand a few times on short and intermediate throws, leading to wild misfires.

I'm not a Tannehill fan but I'm not going to pretend those throws were representative. One of them was so bad it prompted Tasker to claim Tannehill intentionally threw it away, even though it was a slip. The ball didn't even look normal coming off his hand on a couple of the slow motion replays.

I didn't mind that game. My rushing attempt systems were asserting the Dolphins as favored to prevail for the vast majority, unlike most other games when it's exactly the opposite.

Tannehill was reminding me of Joe Ferguson as a rookie with the Bills in the early '70s. He mostly stayed out of the way and pitched the ball to O.J. Simpson or handed it to Jim Braxton. Ferguson was asked not to turn the ball over and make one or two important passes per game. That's a winning football formula for a mediocre team and quarterback, although somehow that has been lost in translation over the decades.

The Dolphins get in trouble when they pretend that Tannehill is markedly above a Joe Ferguson type. Ferguson was always a high 6s low 7s YPA guy in an era in which that level was more difficult to achieve than today. Ferguson held on for so long in the league that his stats naturally began to decline later, with the exception of one big year that I still can't explain. I was aware of YPA during that season and Ferguson was defying probability, costing me several wagers. That was a lousy season for me -- 1988.

I thought Tanny looked like David Woodley and the entire game was played in a time warp to 1982.

RT had a bad game and we won.

Hopefully this is a sign that the rest of the team is getting its **** together.
