Hearing that Good things are being said about Tannehill is better than nothing being said.

Yes....and we've been so wrong about so much lately. We never saw 0-7 coming...oh wait...we did. We never saw Marshall as an overrated receiver...oh wait we did. We never saw Davis/Smith as NOT a top DB pair...oh wait...we did.

Tannehill is from Texas and aikman is from west Covina CaliforniaI think the Aikman thing is irrelevant. It's good he likes Tannehill, but I don't think it means anything. The kid came from his neck of the woods, anyway. I think we all want Marino to be a bigger part of the organization, and to want to help our QB's, etc. But the truth is, Dan was a God-given talent. He wasn't noted as being a student of the game, a la Peyton Manning, or Chad Pennington. He just went out and slung the ball. Hell, he admits that most of the time, when a run play was called, he just changed it to a pass, anyway. Not the kind of guy that should be tutoring a young QB, IMO.
That being said...He is still my idol today, and I would be all starry-eyed if I met him. Lol
Tannehill's athleticism will always make him look good in practice. The critique on him has been his lapses in decision-making and staring down WRs as evidenced by having three 3 interception games last year, at least one interception in 9 out of 13 games, and 15 interceptions as a senior.
Youre also the one who was wrong about so much a few years ago, and thus went from drinking the dolphins kool aid and seeing everything through rose colored glasses, to being the most annoying dolphins Debbie downer. Ever heard of a happy medium?Yes....and we've been so wrong about so much lately. We never saw 0-7 coming...oh wait...we did. We never saw Marshall as an overrated receiver...oh wait we did. We never saw Davis/Smith as NOT a top DB pair...oh wait...we did.
The problem with that strategy is that we rely on confirmation bias and think it'll work... that all the guys who started early and turned out well had the stones and the guys who started early and went belly up didn't have 'em. Only there's no way to know that. It's just what we assume after the fact. If you read the in-depth stories of Rodgers' rookie year everyone basically says he was so awful in training camp that if he had been a lower round pick he would have been cut.
This early out there's no way of telling anything one way or another, but one thing for sure is I'm not rushing anything. I'll root for the Dolphins this year but for me it's already all about next year. If I were making the plans, my goal would be to shoot for Tannehill starting four games. That's enough for teams to adjust to you and to have some ups and downs and have good tape to look at but probably not enough to get shell shocked. On the upper range would be duplicating what they did with Josh Freeman, who I think ended up starting nine games his rookie year.
it's a real challenge to temper the optimisim I have about tannehill. My brain tells me, that a season holding a clipboard would be best for his developement, esp with a rookie head coach etc, but my heart says, best man wins rookie or not.
