Tannehill is 6th in the league on 40+ yard passes

The fact that RT is dead last in long ball completion percentage says that every QB is better at the long ball than him right now. Let's not confuse the facts with statistical manipulation.

That's not what that says. That would only be true if all of the QBs were throwing passes under identical conditions. Obviously they are not. Different receivers. Different plays called. Different game conditions. Different defenses. Different offensive lines. etc, etc, etc

I wish people made fewer posts about "facts".

Tannehill is tied for 6th in the league in 40 yard passes....doesn't matter how he gets them. Also anyone who watches the fins know these 40 yard passes weren't on screens. Regardless of how pretty, accurate you think his long ball is doesn't change the fact Tannehill & the Dolphins are amongst the league best in 40+ yard passing plays.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.

disagree - apparently he's last in completion percentage on downfield throws. he needs to start hitting more like the Clay play for that percentage to go up. absolute numbers such as x number of plays over 40 yards is misleading. we are mixing catch/run with vertical chances. i'm talking about vertical balls - that's what the commentator in the jets game was referring to - comp % going into that game was last in the league on throws "in the air" for over 20 yards. that's not good.

I'd also like to sleep with more women and talk to less but you know what sometimes it takes a couple of failed attempts before you score.

I don't think there is anything outlandish about what royalshank is saying... Tannehill is improving a lot in all aspects of his game but we need to see him get significantly better with his long ball before he becomes an upper echelon quarterback.

It's a very fair assessment.
