Yesterday's game was NOT good, let me say that. There were missed throws and A horrible interception when he DID have time to throw and for the first 55 minutes the offense was not just bad... it was PUTRID! And don't tell me about two missing lineman. If two lineman are the difference between your offense being good, and your offense being PUTRID... then your offense isn't good enough!!

BUT... when it mattered most, game\season on the line Tannehill, Davante Parker, Landry AND THE OFFENSIVE LINE stepped up and made plays. And as fans that's what you want to see. It won't always be easy, and when the going is tough you want to see guys fight through and preservere.

With that said... I think Tannehill is getting closer to earning the ever elusive "Benefit of the doubt" that only certain QB's have earned. I'm talking about that benefit of the doubt where even if he struggles here and there, fans aren't calling him a bum or saying he sucks (see Andrew luck. I feel with a lot of fans (me included) it's like we're expecting him to revert back to the inconsistent QB we've seen over the last 4 years and as soon as he misses a throw or struggles a bit, we start saying he sucks.

These last 5 games haven't all been GREAT, BUT he's made key plays at critical points in almost each of those games and for ME, that's what I expect from the QB position. Don't have to be great ALL THE TIME, but have the ability to be GREAT when necessary and he's shown that the last two weeks.

IF he continues to do that, I think we start to see a shift in the fans mentality where even if he has a bad game or two, fans aren't calling for his replacement and saying he sucks!

Keep it up Tanny.... And prove ME and all of the other fans who think you're not the answer wrong!!! #FINSUP

Talking out of both sides of your mouth IMO.

You say he's getting closer to getting "benefit of the doubt" but yesterday's game wasn't good is how you start your post. So why would a bad game get him closer to having benefit of the doubt? Because he made plays when it mattered most? Wouldn't that qualify the game as good?

Look, the offense was not good for the majority of yesterday's game, but the Rams have been doing that to offenses all year. Suffocating them....and in this league TEAMS win games, and often they have to gut out games like these. So when you have a quarterback that's able to deliver you these kinds of wins when the time is running out...that's special. I think over the last 4 years Tannehill has been polarizing mostly because we haven't been winning as a team....

A lot of people on this board start to limp back one way or another after every week, and I've casted my own doubt on 17 too when the season was starting to look bleak...but I don't think the conversation is about Tannehill in that FO or in that locker room. I think it's about the Dolphins, and that's how it should be. We're going to need a lot more than just good/great play from Tannehill if we want to compete god willing we make it into the playoffs...so I think that's why you a "team success" culture from the Patriots, Broncos, Seahawks.....etc. It takes more than a QB to be a relevant team. Just ask Drew Brees.

The numbers for the entire team through 53 minutes of the game was horrendous. He at one point had I believe it was 20-something yards passing late in the 3rd quarter. If L.A. had any semblance of an offense they win easy and might even be a great team.

For whatever reason those last 2 drives seemed easy. I'll never understand the NFL and how a team can look beyond inept all game and then suddenly come alive and actually win.

closer to what exactly? and what are you going to do if he doesnt 'make it'? replace him with keenum or fitz? maybe Sanchez?

Yea right

I believe the OP is habitually, overly critical. I do not mind saying the OP saying RT is getting closer. That implies growth, and we did see growth. RT had rough game, but he had a very nice finish. He kept his feet moving, found open lanes, made good decisions, and delivered the ball accurately on that final drive. It was nice to see.

Tannehill came through yesterday in a game that was as good as lost. Granted, Fisher's conservative coaching at the end helped, but still Tannehill made the plays. I almost gave up on him after Cincinnati and Tennessee, but now I can see where he is headed.
You know, Marino didn't always have the best game week after week. Go back and watch the Spike Game sometime, and check out Marino in the first half. But he came through. Maybe it's not fair to compare Tannehill to Marino, but sometimes the game doesn't go as we'd like because the other team has good players too, and they play well and stuff us; but when **** gets real, as it did yesterday, Tannehill went balls out when it mattered. I almost knew they were going to win as soon as they scored that first touchdown. I could feel everything start to turn. I am excited to see what Tannehill's ceiling is, because I think a year from now, two years from now, he's going to begin to finally turn into a top 10-ish QB; and with the coaching we now finally have, that might be good enough.

I really don't care what you think of him, you've been wrong all along.

The Rams had not allowed a TD for 11 periods before Landry forced his way in. To say the Rams D is merely just "good" is likely an understatement. Offenses shooting blanks has lately been the norm vs LA. Tannehill and the offense putting up 2 TDs to end the game was a monumental accomplishment IMO.

Tempo changed and LA couldnt keep up.

I don't think that was a horrible interception. Actually i think it was a perfectly placed ball.... Vante' stopped running and misjudged where the ball would be. If he would have timed his jump better he would have easily snagged that ball from the safety.... That's not on Thill. :idk:

A horrible interception when he DID have time to throw

The INT was not on the QB. It was blatant PI by the DB. Also, DVP has to do a better job getting in position. One on one coverage with DVP, you take that shot. Nothing wrong with the decision or the throw. For years we heard that Tannehill needs to try those throws.

lol how I felt.

As for don't talk about down 2 O-lineman... Try 3 as soon as Tunsil and if you don't think that will affect the offense then no point in trying to talk football with ya. I think Tannehill was sacked/hit more times during the game than during 3-4 games before.

Some teams have very predictable composure and execution week in and week out. They have a very consistent style of play each week and are very even keeled. Other teams can peak and trough in their play. Playing poorly with great talent or playing great with poor talent and vice versa.

Green Bay is a perfect example of peaks and troughs. When they are executing to their level they are one of the very best teams in the NFL. Rodgers at the top of his game, flicking passes left and right marching down the field with ease. Then, a wheel will fall off. And suddenly, Rodgers is getting picked left and right, sacked seemingly every drive and the hole offense looks discombobulated and out of sync.

Real winning teams win when they are playing bad. Because when the game is on the line, the professionals show up to work and win the games they are supposed to win. Regardless of potential excuses.

I said before the LA game when we knew Albert and Pouncey were out that we would find out a lot about Gase and this staff from this game. We were supposed to win, but we didn't have a few important pieces that have been propelling us to victory. We not only won, but we did it with our other OL anchor going down and absent for the most important parts of the game.

That's when you know, you have a coach. We won when we should, even though we shouldn't have.

100 % correct. Parker slowed down to jump 3 yards too early. That should have easily been a TD. He made a mistake, but then more than made up for it.

I know this thread is about Tannehill, but it looked to me like the DB put 2 hands in Parker's back and gave him a little push away from the ball. I didn't get a real clear view of it though. Is that what you saw, too?

As for Tannehill. I am most impressed with his poise and fight to win. It was a tough game. No doubt about it, but he didn't give up and willed our guys to a win. That's the kind of thing you can't measure with stats and in a lot of cases is the difference between a win and a loss. I am not on the Tannehill train yet, but I am at the station.
