Let me start out with, I don't see this team making the playoffs... I did see a young gun slinger tonight though.

WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! Let Tannehill sling it 40 times a game in the west coast offense! Hes got some touch and can put some zip on it when needed. Throw him to the fire just like the Bengals did with Dalton and the Panthers with Cam last year. The Colts with Luck and the Redskins with RG3 and the Browns with Weeden this year. Hes our top pick, playing in an offense he understands. He has his college coach with him everyday at work for god sake! This team is going no where under David Garrard or Matt Moore. We have the 2 worst corners in the league (Sean Smith / Vontae Davis) even though they have the physical tools to be the best... We might as well see what we got before we waste another 2-3 years on a Chad Henne or a John Beck...

Per Linda Cohn (ESPN): With Garrard having knee surgery, Ryan Tannehill makes statement for Dolphins. 14 of 27 for 167 yds and an 11 yd TD pass in loss.

Per Izzy Gould (Sun-Sentinel): Tannehill said the first preseason game was kind of vanilla. Said he checked out of three plays.

Per Armando Salguero (Palm Beach Post): Matt Moore on Ryan Tannehill: "It's evident and very clear he can play. I know he's good and talented." Matt Moore asked if he thinks Dolphins prefer to start Tannehill: "maybe ..."

Per Omar Kelly (Sun-Sentinel): "Ryan Tannehill's teammates couldn't stop talking about how calm and poised he seemed in the pocket. "I try to give off that essence" he said.
 
I think if this kid has the makeup to be great, he won't be 'ruined' by going out there behind our offensive line that consists of how many 1st and 2nd round picks?

Put him on the field. Matt Moore is a very good backup, but he isn't the answer.
 
Gentlemen, I think Miami has found a QB!!! I'm stunned at how far he has come since the OTA's. I was expected a bigger learning curve and more time watching and learning. He now appears to just need more game experience, after watching him in his 1st pre-season game. Tannehill seems to be way ahead of what many thought he was coming out of college.
 
I think if they are going to start him they need to commit to it this week. He needs to get run with the 1s..as much as possible. And if I recall they wanted to name a starter by the 3rd preseason game because obviously the starter plays most of that game. He needs to start this next week...if he doesn't then we go into the third week of preseason and he's yet to face another team's 1s.
 
So much bad luck with qbs....but I cannot deny my eyes today,although its only a measley preseason game.

I have loved Tannehill since 2010, never in my right mind did I think he'd be wearing aqua and orange. All I ever read about him (and saw 1st hand) was he just needed more time under center. I'm a pessimistic fan as well, although I've always posted with positives in mind. But Tannehill gives me hope, a hope I never really grasped with the likes of John Beck, Chad Henne or Mr. Heather Mitts himself!!!
 
It was 14 of 21. Way better than 14 of 27. Anyways I thought he looked really good.
 
I don't know what some of you, and some "experts" were watching. TANNEHILL made too many bad "reads"/decisions to count. He's lucky a few of his throws weren't intercepted. While he was lucky against 3rd and 4th string future burger flippers, that won't fly against legit NFL CBs.

That being said, he showed some ability as well. But he needs learning/experience...He is NOT ready: not even close. All we know now is (a) he has all the tools; (b) except experience, which he needs very much. That being said, the next person who tells me that he "lacks armstrength", or "can't ever become a leader", I will punch them in the nose.

As to MOORE, in case you missed it, he did very well. His INT was the result of the pass being tipped at the l/o/s by a DLman.

Now for the TRULY bad news. The Right side of our OL sucked WAZOO...again...pretty much from start to finish. I couldn't keep track of all the OLmen who played. I do know that our young, rookie RT got "owned", and NO ONE who played RG impressed me. It was almost "deja vu all over again" from last year's COLUMBO-CAREY fiasco...maybe not THAT bad, but definitely NOT good.

But at least you feel there is hope for Martin and Tannehill ... That's all you can ask from 2 obviously talented kids. You couldn't say that about those who played in 2011. I saw Tannehill's misreads tonight, but in spite of them, he at least shows he can play and play at a very high level, perhaps in a short period of time.

YES I DO INDEED feel there's hope for both MARTIN and TANNEHILL.

But I'd give TANNEHILL a full year. Don't forget, even the great ones usually sit awhile, before becoming topshelf. J UNITAS actually got CUT by the team that drafted him in 1955. BRADY sat behind a knowledgable "statue". And if I recall correctly, even MARINO sat half of his 1st season. There's something to be said for "patience". As to MARTIN, he's new to this level of play, and you have to LEARN things at EVERY position. Because, to papraphrase DOROTHY's line in The Wizard of Oz, "They're not in College anymore".
