Tannehill Myth-Buster #7: He's Now Tied For 3rd in NFL Completions of 40+ yds!

The more deep passes he throws, the higher his and the team's confidence gets. Impact and influence.

Honestly, this year he has really sharpened his deep ball. His bucket throws are much more frequent. He seems to be able to gauge his receivers speeds more accurately as well. I don't know how much of it is practice, how much is timing, how much is good route running, but whatever it is, Gase does seem to have tightened up the deep passing. He throws the balls where the WR's want them as well. Stills wants it either in front of him or over a specific shoulder. Parker wants it either well in front of him or high-pointable.

Kudos to Ryan, the receivers and probably most of all the coaching staff for turning this from a secondary skill into a primary skill. This offense feels much more of a deep threat offense than any of Tannehill's previous offenses.

Oh and extrapolating out these stats by yp/a, after stripping out all the "passers" with less than 100 attempts, Tannehill's 7.8ypa is tied with 2 others for 8th place. Also that's just 1/10th of a point below Brees' and Mariotta's 7.9.. barely relevant statistically.

So right now, between wins, and meaningful stats, an argument can be made that RT17 is presently a top 12, if not top 10 QB - at least for now.

A little more extrapolation:

Of starting QBs (including Hoyer which skews him down), despite his shaky start, nevertheless, Tannehill ranks #13 in QBR.. just slightly below the great Aaron Rodgers and ahead of Wilson, Luck, Eli, Rivers, Dalton, Jameis, Palmer, Wentz, AlexSmith, Newton, Bortles, Flacco and Cutler.

Come on Vaark, you know the film and stats don't mean crap. Until Tannehill can get a meaningful college win under his belt, he'll never be anything in the NFL.

Not too shabby for a "recycled wide receiver" eh? :)

Look who's leading the league in getting sacked...and he missed a game because of a concussion.

Bet the practice field is ranked first in cleanliness.
