I don't post much, but I have been behind Tannehill ever since he was drafted. Unfortunately, and I hate it, I am starting to have my doubts. I think he has done a much better job with his deep ball. If you notice, he releases the ball sooner and with more arc on deep passes. However, his pocket awareness has not improved enough at all. And to make matters worse, I don't think he's built for the job. He is long legged. And if you notice when he does run, his strides are straight up and down. His legs are long and that prevents him from being fluid. And if you aren't fluid, you can not get your way out of the tight jams he constantly finds himself in. You always hear that he is an an athlete. He may be an athlete but he is NOT athletic, and I don't think he can over come that. Some QB's are slow a foot, but they can overcome that with pocket awareness and a quick release. Just my thoughts.

Nothing wrong with having concerns regarding RT. He has improved in his long ball but seems to have regressed in other areas. Frankly, I think the entire offense has regressed as the league appears to be very well prepared for our game plans each week.

RT also appears slower to me this year. Not anything I know definitively, but just from observing he seems slower when he moves. Perhaps all those hits are finally starting to have an impact.

Lazor sucks......play calling and design is awful.

He is suffocating the whole offense.

interesting take but i think that when you look at true pocket passers like brady, manning, even flacco has a similar level of this " natural athleticism" as tannehill does. and tannehill is actually a much better athlete than the ones i just listed....they don't depend on movement to make plays at the qb position. tanne has that ability, but he'd rather hang in the pocket and try to make a play with his arm...navigating the pocket I hope is something that will come naturally to tanne as he gets more reps. i dont buy the whole "it can't be taught" or "it can't be learned" , that's all bs to me. it's called player development.

and he will get more reps because unfortunately for many posters on this site, he's our starting qb for 2016. i have seen enough from him to where i'm happy giving time for a real coaching staff, not some half aborted FO , that's built more like a ****ty boat that gets one leaking hole plugged at a time. can our qb get us to the playoffs with the roster he has? i think so, but i don't think our coaching staff is doing anything to help.

at least that's my opinion

Tannehill options didn't fool the Cowboys. It looked awkward running. I think the league being prepared for running and him not improvising running has a lot to do with that.

One of the things I've noticed this year with Tannehill is that despite how everyone paints a picture about his playing so far...he has appeared to be one of the more consistent QBs in the entire league...

Consistent at what? Continuing to start? If so agreed. A lot of QB changes going on and Tannehill isn't among them.

That being the biggest thing. But for the most part his playing hasn't been the roller coaster everyone wants to scream that it is. I mean it's been no more or a roller coaster than what Rodgers has been through...

Currently RT is good for about 2 scoring drives a game. The rest of the scoring must come from our running game, special teams or defense. RT is just not good enough at least yet. Sure we can speak of Lazor and the Oline they are issues but this is the second offensive coordinaor we have blamed under his tenure for underachiving and we have added to first round draft picks at tackles last year and are still last in the leaque. Its interesting that RT can set a NFL record for most consistent completions under Lazor but does not have enough talent to keep the team rolling. Really the most consistent thing you can say about the kid is that he hangs in there and keep taking a licking so give him props for being tough. The concern with that though is IMO he is getting more of that look of a deer in the headlights during the games so I am getting a bit concerned all the licks he has been taking has taken a toll and affected his judgement a bit.

Awsi Dooger made a point in another thread that made a lot of sense. Instead of going for the homerun 50+ ball like he used to do once or twice a game with Mike Wallace, he seems to be settling into the 30/35 zone and he's had much more success with that.

That's coaching, although while many people puts up their TanneWall to defend the guy against any criticism and blame the rest of the team for his faults, give the coaches/front office some credit for getting rid of the guy Tannehill had no chemistry with, bringing in a set of WRs that mesh better with him and getting Ryan to find a proper zone to have the most success getting chunk yards.

But I absolutely agree with how this "athlete" looks so unathletic when he's in the pocket, never mind the complete lack of feel, awareness and just overall stiffness he oftens shows . . . . he just looks uncomfortable when he needs to instinctually run . . . and unnatural when it's a designed run. That part of his game is about as ugly as it gets in this league currently.

He's a tough SOB for sure, pretty sure he's earned everybody's respect in that regard.

good post. I don't understand why he can look like a clod at times - he played WR in college. He couldn't have run routes looking like that, could he have?

I think Tannehill is definitely not a fit into Lazor weak system. Also don't think Tannehill is going to be In a Dolphins uniform in 3 years.

Tanny is what he is UNLESS he gets the right coach and system......

I have wanted to believe in him...I have tried to believe in him......but it ain't going to happen unless the coach and system is right......

End of Story.....

How many excuses does he need though? It always coaching, line, coord, bla bla bla. He is in his 4th year and got paid like an elite qb. You keep waiting for him to take over. Meanwhile we will be stuck in mediocre mode. We need (as simple as it sounds) a smart talent evaluator. Problem is those guys are either hired or have a comfy job in a tv booth. The talent eval guy will pick the right coach, players and mesh the scheme with the players and coaches. Ireland selected RT, so that tells you all you need. How many front office's and coaches will get fired before they realize he isnt the franchise qb? The next coach that comes in wont be handcuffed. They dont want to be fired. In all reality, based on salary, RT stays next year. But Miami must not be afraid to do what's best for the team and either plant seeds for a new qb, draft a new qb, or finally fixed this broken offense, stressing the line and the OC/scheme. The Chip Kely:/Laser system is broken. I feel bad that another offensive scheme will have to be in place. But that's the reality. The quicker we face reality, the better
