If he isnt ready then yeah..he should sit. But if he is the best QB in camp and preseason...then he should start. You build your team around the QB...he needs to be part of the gelling you are talking about.

Training camp and (especially) preseason will tell us all we need to know. If he looks good making those zone reads in the middle of the field he's going to have the inside track, due his knowledge of the playbook. Remember how Steve Young always said it takes most quarterbacks three years to become proficient in the WCO? Tannehill has already had two, which is two more than the other QBs on our roster.
The other consideration has nothing to do with Tannehill at all. It's the Roethlesberger Factor: if you have a good running game and a stout defense you can start a rookie and protect him by not asking him to throw for 300 yards a game. If our new zone rushing attack looks great with all the new parts on the offensive line AND the defense makes a smooth transition to the 4-3 by end of preseason, I'd feel a lot better about starting Ryan Tannehill in Week 1. If these elements don't pan out (or are even a bit shaky), I agree - let him sit for now until they do.
