There are a couple of ways that Tannehill plays this season.

The 1st is that he simply outplays Matt Moore and David Garrard in training camp and preseason and starts the first game. IMO, he will be raped. I know that he ran Mike Sherman's spread option WCO is college...(spread option WCO?)

That is exciting but then we have to remember that the main reason Mike Sherman is our OC is because he was fired from Texas A&M with one year left on his contract.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Sherman

In 2011, the Aggies began as a top 10 ranked team, but fell out of the polls after losing 4 games, three of which had double digit half time leads. Three of those four losses were to teams later ranked among the top ten in the nation. On November, 19, 2011 the Aggies defeated Kansas by a score of 61-7 and became bowl eligible for a third straight season.
Sherman was fired by Texas A&M on December 1, 2011.

Now from what I understand, Tannehill's favorite passes and the one he throws the best are square outs and outside comebacks. Passes that need a strong arm that he seems to have. (I'm not 100% sure where how these go into a quick react, WCO offense, I'm not try to be a smart azz, I really do not know) We also know that these same passes tend to get Tannehill picked off. I have a feeling that NFL corners are also going to know this and Tannehill is going to think that his WRs are a lot more open then they really are. He also seems to prefer playing against a man to man defense where he can make that one read (most QBs do IMO). The area where he admits that he is worse at is throwing over the middle. As he told Mike Mayock, he simply does not trust his reads when throwing over the middle.

The 2nd way he starts playing is Matt Moore and/or David Garrard or start the season at 2-6, 3-8 etc. A lot of Dolphin fans seem to expect a 6-8 win season at best so this should not be too surprising. Ryan Tannehill could come in and go undefeated but I'm wondering if we start off at 2-8 if anyone is playing well. And it does sacre me that we are changing both out offense and our defense in one season and we really do not have a great WR or a real MLB.

The 3rd way is that Matt Moore and maybe even David Garrard go down with injuries early or though mid season and Tannehill has to step in and start.
I really do not like this option because that means our pass protection and running game is as bad if not worse then last season and we risk getting Tannehill hurt.

Ryan Tannehill some how getting hurt is a nightmare situation. Nothing would be worse then him going down and missing the rest of the year.

As I've said, while I did have a player I wanted us to draft instead of Ryan Tannehill (MLB Luke Kuechly) but being a big Dolphin fan I'm drinking the Kool Aid (tropical punch at the moment) and with in 3 weeks or so Ryan Tannehill to me is going to be the greatest thing since hash brownies. (mmmmm hash brownies)

This being said, since i'm tired of adding this again as a post to all of the "Tannehill should start now" threads (you know, the ones that quote Billy Bob Ratspitter, the sports writer at the South Kansas Seed and Feed Newsletter), these are the two conditions for me to want to see Ryan Tannehill start the season.

1st) He does outplay Matt Moore and David Garrard and 2nd) Our OL in both pass protection and run blocking is much improved over last season.

This would allow us to run the ball while Tannehill and our young WR corp adjust to the WCO and the speed of the NFL. I think not counting former Charger's F-Back Legedu Naanee (F-Back?), our other 8 WRs have a combined NFL experience of about 11 years.

My crazy drug induced dream of Tannehill getting his first playing time is mopping up games when we are up by 30 points during our Matt Moore led 12-6 season.

And before you think this is the morphine sulfate drip talking, i'll have you know that it is a pump and not a drip. And I can have more anytime I want. And spell check is really great. And my girlfriend takes great care of me.

And I'm going to take a nap... :gator:

:tank:

P.S. 12-6 season? I really need a nap. And to eat something.

im expecting a 10 win season. and that aint no lie. whoever the qb is.

We have a full deck compared to last year where we actually will be able to prepare for the new offense and defense. The schedule is not nearly as hairy. I mean these teams are very beatable.

Also, the coaching will be much better with adjustments. Sparano couldnt adjust his jock. Tannehill will play at some point, but to me, it doesnt matter who starts because it means the coaches chose the guy who they think gives the best chance to win.

this team has a lot of talent.

I also EXPECT a 10-6 season. Even with all the problems we had last season we won 8 games. And I agree 100% that A) we are a better team and B) we have a easier schedule.

Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.

Thats why these guys play on Sundays

who really cares whether they win 4 or 6 or 3 games next season. The team isn't going anywhere next year and will end up being far away from the ultimate prize

The Dolphins are 3 years away from having a chance, and until then they need to make some great moves (and drafts) ,, and for Tannehill to develop properly.

The Super Bowl champs had a 9-7 record last year and got into the playoffs in Week 17. The Packers were 10-6 the year before and also won from the wild card spot. I realize they both have a good QB and solid coaching, but I don't think it's far fetched to say we make the playoffs via the wild card. And that's all any team needs to go all the way. (no, I'm not saying we're a shoe in for the playoffs or the super bowl)

I know optimism is frowned upon around here but looking at our team and the improvements/changes from our 6-10 year (and 6-3 finish) even with Tannehill playing and taking his rookie lumps we could very well have a winning record and sneak in the playoffs.

My apologies for my positive outlook. I know it'll be an uphill battle but I refuse to look at everything as being so bleak and hopeless.

Lay off the drip dude. We have not won 8 games for some time now. 7 , 7 and 6 I believe. Never mind ... I see your from Gainesville.

I see what your trying to say but I actually believe that our success this year may actually depend more on what our Secondary does than anything else.

Outside of Davis, I have zero faith in any of them...except maybe Wilson progressing some.

So, the moral of the story is that LUG doesn't like Tannehill? I never would have guessed that based on his previous 354,927 posts sayin the exact same thing.

Bike accident. Fractured left Femur, Broken Right Humerus, Compression fracture at T-8, 4 Broken Bones in Right Hand, and assorted scrapes and contusions.

Luckily, even in the heat I always wear a padded and armored suit and a helmet. It was a Chinese Air Force Pilot Helmet but it did the trick. From now on I'll wear one of my DOT ones however.

I remembered that Matt Moore went 6-3 but was fuzzy about the rest. I should have doubled checked but I was tired. My bad.

O please...........It was only 12,987 posts!

It is not so much I did not like him as I was not thrilled over him and with us switching to a 4-3 I wanted a future All Pro MLB to replace the overpaid, over rated and declining K Dansby. MLB Luke Kuechly was drafted the pick after us.

I think Matt Moore is a good QB and will be the best starter this season anyway. And we are also switching to a brand new offense.

But I and everyone else knew that there was a 98.6% chance that we were going to draft Ryan Tannehill. In fact, Jeff Ireland HAD to draft him. And he is a exciting pick but the more I read about Tannehill starting this season the more it scares me.

I do not us to go 2-14. The last two years I could not sell any of the 5 pairs of tickets that I need to sell to have season tickets. We do not get Dolphin games so I'll have to get the Sunday Ticket and I want it to be worth it.

5 days ago I was harassed by a couple of freaking bags boys at Publix because I was wearing one of my Dolphin Caps. I'm tired of losing.

Feel better LUG and for heaven sakes don't mess with those bad azz Publics bagboys. They are probably on a work release program from GCI.
