Do you guys see this as a concern? He had several passes batted up at the line last night. A good friend of mine played some semi-pro o line and always mentions this as a key factor when analyzing QBs.

Maybe, but all of our QB's have had issues with this so far. I think it's more of the pocket being pushed back and the lineman not keeping their targets engaged. If your opponent is too upright, you have to hit him in the gut to keep his hands down.
 
It can be a combination of bad OL play and a low release point.
But T-hill is 6'4 so that should not be an issue.
 
Tannehill actually has a very HIGH release point if you look at photos - especially compared to Matt Moore. More of the pocket collapsing in my view.
 
He is locking on to his primary read and stares hm down coupled with an inability to step up in the pocket and find passing lanes.
 
i'm not sure i'd say he's locking in on primary reads only...i see him coming off his initial look a good number of times...at times the release gets a little more 3/4 but i also think but i'm not sure yet that i see him patting the ball just prior to firing sometimes...and that's the kind of stuff that dlineman and lbs in coverage and corners will drive on

This. Joe Rose kept saying this on the radio broadcast. It's fixable.

Considering nothing around Tannehill worked right, he kept his composure and acquitted himself fine. Let's be real, no push in the running game, receivers not separating, vanilla game plan, and horrendous pass pro. Tanne needs to clean things up but the potential is there. And he doesn't have the deer in headlights feel that Henne always had.
 
Another things about Tanne, his footwork looks really good back there and as I said, great composure and attitude. He's not a fraidy cat like check-down Henne who would get immediately flustered and couldn't keep his eye level downfield. If anything, Tanne was looking downfield, with no receivers separating, and he could have taken a checkdown and didn't with a sack as a consequence. I think these are actually good signs but these are all correctable sins. Unlike Henne. He couldn't be corrected. Long way to go, but I am still high on Tanne. I like these signs.
 
not being able to step up and find passing lanes i would agree with...some of that though i think is also not being used to taking pro drops and i saw a lot of pro drops from him yesterday...it's frankly not a strength right now...pa and shotgun is
 
b/t that kid should definitely start week 1...he's more advanced in the way he reads and sees the field and set up his protections and knows where to go with the ball against quick pressure as far as his hots than expected...and his upside blows everyone else away...physical mental...you name it...i'm impressed

would be nice if we could give him some help in the damn run game...so far it's all been on his shoulders...
 
Hoops liked Henne to a certain degree too.

He isn't against Miami QBs at all, he just knows when theres complete garbage (Moore) and talent (Tannenhill)
 
i did like henne for a while there...but he didn't anticipate he stared down everything and he was a statue who when he felt pressure his eyes came down and he just burrowed forward in the fetal position pretty much...this kids a much better talent...there's a lot to like...i'm not joking
