Ryan Tannehill does not have the résumé of Aaron Rodgers, but he’s confident he can outduel the Packers star, especially coming off a stellar outing against the Raiders.

Rodgers is Philbin’s problem this Sunday, when the Packers visit Sun Life Stadium. And in the battle of quarterbacks, Green Bay has a decided edge.

Just one example: Ryan Tannehill’s rating has eclipsed 100 just five times in 36 career stats.

The silver lining for the Dolphins is one of those five came in Tannehill’s previous outing. Against the Raiders in London, he had his best outing in some nine months, completing 74 percent of his passes for 278 yards and two scores in a Dolphins rout.

And while it’s absurd to think Tannehill will reel off 11 more performances just like it, nobody – from his coach on down – deems it unreasonable to expect at least two in a row.

Philbin, who was Rodgers’ offensive coordinator from 2007 through 2011, said “it would be great” if Tannehill can begin stringing together strong outings.

“Now we’ve kind of tasted close to a 60-minute game,” Philbin said. “I’m not going to sit here and tell you it was a work of art for 60 minutes in London, but it was a good team win in all three phases of the game. We want to continue building that as a football team and certainly [Tannehill is] a part of that. So that would be great.”

Now, will he remain hot Sunday, with a full two weeks between starts? We’ll soon find out.

“You have to go out and play every week regardless of how things went last week or how things went the play before,” he said. “You have to be able to correct it, take a deep breath, reset yourself and make the next play. … Bad things are going to happen at some point during the game, during the week. You have to be able to reset yourself and make the plays.”

I think, or maybe just really want to believe, that we can expect to see Tannehill and the offense begin to execute at a much higher level than we are used to seeing as we get further into our new offense. Despite the level of opposition that some argue that we played in London, the confidence that was built in that game was a huge plus for us, along with being able to dwell on the positives as a team for two weeks during the bye. We've all wanted to see Tannehill play consistently for not only entire game but also back to back weeks and this will be a great test for that. Also interested to see the game planning and play calls for this game against a defense, that on paper, seems to struggle mightily vs the run.

New offense finally getting the hang of it. Get Clay heathly maybe IR Gibson who isnt himself. Tannehill should roll from here on out

Hmm..Tannehill has proven to be a real tease. How many times now have we watched him have a monster game only to be followed up by a dud?

I really want to see if he can put together a few good games back to back!

With Pouncey coming back if he plays at RG our line could be one of the best in the league. We have one of the best running attacks in the league. We have a solid receiving corps, if not a top 10 unit. Five weeks to learn the new system, at home, after a bye week. The Pack has the 3rd best passing defense and a top 12 defense overall, which is the type we typically struggle against, but no more excuses. Time to make a statement.

So if Tannehill has a big day are we still gonna hear excuses? Not saying you make them but the nay sayers will go well the packers defense sucks
