He seems to say that about every quarterback that's drafted, and so e that aren't.

The fate of this entire team rests on the O-line.
Period.
If they can't keep Tannehill clean, we will not succeed and chances are Tannehill ends up hurt.
60.4% Completion Rate; 24 TDs / 17 INTs; 3913 Yards
Notice I didn't use QBR as a comparative number...because it's garbage for showing how only the QB played. It's more a measure of the entire passing game, which is painfully drawn down by poor OL and RB play (as we all know first hand)..
I had a nightmare that Tannehill has an average season this year and Dolphin fans and the organization panics. Tannehill gets traded to Houston and becomes a star in his home state. And I wonder why my doctor want to test me for sleep apnea... these kind of dreams would make anyone stop breathing in his sleep.
He would have had a "break out season" last year if could have only hit Wallace half the time he got three steps past the defender -- which seemed to happen EVERY SINGLE GAME.
Tannehill's inability to throw the long ball (again, to a WIDE OPEN Wallace) was the difference between winning and losing a number of games last year (3/4?). If he can't get that figured out this year, the guy needs to be dropped like a rock (instead of kept on because of his "potential" for another three years -- which is normally the Dolphin way).
His progress will be subject to what is happening in front of him.
The Eagles quarterbacks held the ball the longest of any team in the NFL last year, by a comfortable margin. It wasn't just Foles, it was Vick too, and both of them held the ball significantly longer in 2013 than they had in 2012 under Reid. Compared with Miami a year ago, drop depth was deeper, play-action a MUCH bigger part of the offense, and the routes took more time to develop. They got away with it because between Jason Peters getting healthy again, Evan Mathis being one of the best guards in football, Lane Johnson being a stud (especially in the second half of the year) and Jason Kelce being among the league's best centers, they may have had the best line in football...in addition to one of the best ground games starring Shady McCoy.
If Bill Lazor tries to bring that style of offense to Miami with two or possibly even three starters on the line that have never played a down of NFL football before (JaWuan James, Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner), plus a free agent acquisition whose weakness was pass pro (Shelley Smith), then Tannehill could be in for as bumpy a ride as he got in 2013. And no matter what you think about his likelihood of making progress in 2014, that will limit his ability to be efficient.
I put 3/4 of the blame on the offensive line. Like many young quarterbacks, Tannehill stood in there too long, so he's got to improve that as well.
I can't argue with the fact that there is more than one way to score points, and when you're not a complete offense, and you don't have pro bowlers on offense, it does make a difference when you take every opportunity that's actually there. If he was better at the deep ball with Wallace, for sure that would have translated into wins. This is not a QB (right now anyway) who had the ability to compensate for deficiencies on the offense. There was nothing you could point to...he didn't avoid the pass rush particularly well, he doesn't scramble well, he doesn't make the mind-blowing big play. He has talent, and can play well, and can lead his team, but so can other QB's in the NFL. He's nothing more than average at this point. He has to prove himself, set himself apart, regardless of our record this year.
So the fact he couldnt hit just one player, he should be dropped? He hit multiple other receivers deep. I think you're over-exagerating the issue. Sure it's a problem, but it's not a problem that you soley give up on a player based on.
Sorry but he doesn't get paid to get open, he gets paid to CATCH footballs...stop making excuses for wallaceHow much are the Dolphins paying Wallace to get past defenders? (After all, that's what he does. They don't pay him to go over the middle.)
People complain about Wallace not living up to his contract, but you'd have to think that these people never actually watched the games. Wallace did what he was hired to do -- something that VERY FEW receivers can actually do in the NFL: get WIDE OPEN deep on a regular basis. Tannehill couldn't hit him. It was LITERALLY the difference between winning and losing a number of games.

How is he supposed to catch balls thrown 5 and 10 yards out of his reach?
