Tannehill Should Start Day 1

I think it's really impossible for a rookie to actually beat out a veteran QB who is at least a competent starter, and Moore is better than that, so I don't see that happening. However, teams are under a lot of pressure to start top draft picks, especially QBs, and Tannehill could very well start simply because of that not because he was actually better than Moore.

Whether RT starts game 1 or not will depend on which QB is hitting the WR's in stride with accuracy and timing and working the hardest to get the new offense down with the receivers to the point where they can read the defense and audible.

I think Moore has experience but what one has to know is that he does not have experience in this offense and he has new receivers to depend on and learn all of this with. T-hill has this already down and probly is already talking to his receivers! For crying out loud he texted Egrew the playbook!

I am not saying Moore will not start the season, but what I am saying is that if RT shows more progression towards what Philbin will be looking for in the big picture, then RT will start.

Because if Aaron Rodgers started from day 1 he may lumped in with such names as Couch, Carr, Smith, etc...

There is a long list of QBs that started before they were ready. Would they have been successful if given time to properly developed? One thing is for sure, Tannehill is not in the same class as Luck or RG3 right now so to base Tannehill playing on what the Colts and Redskins are doing is rather foolish imo.

Spot on. It's too early to say whether he should start or not. Until they put on pads and at least play a few preseason games we have no clue if he's ready and we have to reason to risk our investment by hurrying the process.

I think we should sit him for atleast 8 games and let him learn the NFL..

QB's that did not play right away:
Brady - Did not play his first year (i know he was drafted pick 199, but he is the best and did sit for more than 16 games)
Roger - Did not play for a few years
Big Ben - played as a rook but not right away
Eli - same
Brett Favre

QB's that started right away:
Matt Ryan- can't win playoff game with a loaded roster, also doesnt put top qb stats with his roster.
Tim Couch
Mark Sanchez
David Carr

We havent had a coaching staff with a tack record of developing QB's since I can remember so now that we do lets let them turn Tanny into a pro bowl QB. Overall we should just trust what our coaches decide and be happy with it.
QBs that started in their first year:
Peyton Manning
Dan Marino
Troy Aikman
Jim Kelly

And I'm pretty sure you'll find 1st round QBs that didn't start right away and didn't have a hall-of-fame career. I firmly believe that it doesn't matter if you play a rookie QB or not. He either has it or he doesn't have it. And if he has it, he will prevail even if he gets clobbered his first games (see Peyton Manning).

That said I want this coaching staff to play the best QB on our roster. If it's Tannehill so be it, if it's Moore or Garrard.... well, you get my point.

Give Tannehill time to develop and adapt to the speed of the NFL, he looked horrible in OTA's on tuesday throwing 3 INT's and overthrowing WR's like crazy, he even admitted that he is not used to the speed of the NFL, idc if he knows the WC offense he sure as hell doesnt know a bill becllicheck or rex ryan defense, let moore or garrard start and bring tannehill along slowly like GB did with Rodgers.

I'd like to see what wwe have in Matt Moore. We could have a Rivers/Brees situation brewing, or we could find out that Matt Moore was a 1 year wonder. Tannehill has a ton of potenial, but that potential wont be unlocked on the field - we already know he has the arm and athleticism, it will be unlocked during practices and team meetings. He needs to learn NFL defenses after starting just over 1 season in college. Right now Matt Moore is the better QB, and he deserves to start.

If he is ready start him. If he is not, don't. His draft position should not matter at all. There are enough arguments and examples on both sides, it should just come down to if he is ready.

Philbin knows how to properly develop a QB FACT so whatever happens is best for the team and I'm fine with that. Enough of the same Tannihill should/shouldn't start threads already

If he can win the starting position in camp, then I am all for it. But he should sit until he can beat out the other QBs on the roster.

This.

Just because he's the 1st round pick should not mean he's handed the starting job. There's a certain amount of bust potential with this young man. While I think he's far more talented than Snatchez, he's coming in to a similiar situation and the last thing I want to see is him develop in the same manner.

I agree 100% ! If he does win the starters job in TC but then like Sanchez looks like he's over his head, at least we've got 2 better QBs not only than creaky Brunell, but Sanchez himself so unlike the jest, we likely wouldn't hesitate to sit him down instead of impede his development and confidence (although he seems a helluva lot mentally tougher than the Taco)

I strongly believe when all is said and done Tannehill will start the season. It all comes down when he becomes comfortable with the speed of the game, which I believe will not take him that long.

Matt Moore and David Garrard aren't the best quarterbacks in the league, not even close.

That Said, if Tannehill doesn't outperform them this preseason, by no means should he be starting either.
Most of the QB's that have done well in their rookie season have had excellent and/or formidable defenses playing behind them, to keep them in games and be the equalizer in case the QB makes mistakes. I dont put that kind of money down on Fins' defense yet to do that for Tannehill.
