Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s press conference was so rough today that even his wife was brought into it.
Tannehill handled it well, but nearly every question was about his poor performance and accuracy issues through the first two games — including if he hears the criticism from fans and if not whether his wife tells him about it.
“I don’t really hear anything,” he said. “I have Twitter but I don’t have it on my phone so I never look at it. My wife doesn’t tell me anything obviously.”
Does his wife hear criticism about his performance?
“I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t ask her.”
Through two games, Tannehill has a 60.5 completion percentage with 419 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s 29th in the NFL with a 76.1 passer rating and 34th with a 30.8 QBR.
Somehow Pro Football Focus’ formula has Tannehill as the NFL’s third-best quarterback behind Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers. He was asked what he thought about his PFF ranking.
“Not accurate by what I’m concerned about,” he said. “I haven’t been playing up to my standards and up to our standards as a team.”
Tannehill said his main issue is “I just haven’t been putting the ball in the right spot.”
“I haven’t been at my best,” he said. “It’s got to change and it’s got to change fast. I’m looking forward to going out on Sunday and changing it.”
Maybe I'm losing passion as a fan as I'm getting older but I'm just getting tired of fans talking about these guys as if they owe us something. He's a Miami Dolphin. He's our guy. I imagine he's doing what he can to develop. But sometimes people talk as if he's half-assing it as if we know. I'm going to get ripped and told to get off my soapbox. So as long as I'm on it... it's a game. If he does well, great. If not, then we'll need to find someone else. Posts in this thread aren't so volatile, but there's plenty of line-crossing. You'd think Tannehill pissed in these fans' morning coffee with how personal it can get. K, I'm done.
I have not seen him play like crap this year. He needs to be better, but I think your rating scale is seriously off. I would accept poorly.
Why on earth is the media asking him whether his wife has heard the criticism? That doesn't strike me as very professional.
I am here to tell you people, once again, any QB playing in Buffalo under those circumstances would not have looked very good either.
Not making excuses for RT. He needs to play better and he has said so with authority. His OC has said he needs to be better.
If you see crap this weekend, then its time to worry, but none of this would be an issue if we had won sunday. That stadium in was rocking. The Bills pass rush got to us again. Any good we did, special teams f'd it all up.
quite frankly, I don't understand why that is not a bigger issue.
well....the way RT has been playing isn't very professional, either, so i guess they're even.
yeah, I'm upset at the way he's played, too. he sucks.
