I did this a few weeks ago, and wanted to take another look. Not saying that RT is as good as Luck but, the stat comparison is very interesting.

RT has 2474 yards, a 6.8 avg, and a 61.2 completion %. Luck has 2430 yards, a 7.0 avg, and a 59.4 completion %.

RT has 14 TD's and 11 Int's. Luck has 14 TD's and 6 Int's.

RT is ranked #8 (PFF) with a 81.5 NFL rating. Luck is ranked #7 (PFF) with a 87.0 NFL rating.

RT has been sacked 41 times. Luck has been sacked 23 times.

RT has 25 drops. Luck has 25 drops.

Break Down by Passes in the Air

Over 20 yards- RT 9 of 34. Luck 13 of 38

10-19 yards- RT 55 of 109. Luck 44 of 89

0-9 yards- RT 126 of 166. Luck 109 of 154.

Behind the Line- RT 34 of 36. Luck 40 of 50.

Wonder if there are any Colts fans even thinking Luck is having a bad year, he should be replaced or, is a bust?.

Excellent post and very good points, I think T-Hill is a very good QB. I have no idea why so many people on this site can not see that fact...oh well.

41 sacks... Says a lot about his toughness that he can even hang with Luck...

I'd still take Luck > Tanne, but give me Tannehill over RG3, Kaepernick, or Dalton any day of the week. Love the article w/ the Redskins backtracking on the RG3 pick saying Shannahan wanted Tannehill  As a Dolphin fan, thats the kinda article you prayed you'd read two years ago.

Its hard on any QB when your OL and running game struggles which both teams are going through. I think it shows RT is no bust and deserves some more time to see his full potential. The better QB is Luck though IMO but those numbers show even good QB struggle without adequate support.

This is impossible please look again. There is no way in hell Ryan Tannehill's stats could be anywhere near those of the best QB prospect of all time. For the record I think Andrew Luck is very good but how good he is so over the top exaggerated it's not even funny. I also do not know what we have in Tannehill yet but I do know those calling him a "bust" right now are ridiculous. This is why I couldn't even post in the "Anyone Still Think Tannehill is a Bust Thread" because I don't understand what the guys who think he's not that good are posting about. The name of the thread title was, "Anyone Still Think Tannehill Is a Bust" so were folks arguing Tanny is a bust right now or they're not sure we have a franchise QB yet? If it's the latter well they're going off the topic which was labeling him a bust not might be a bust. Bottom line is Ryan Tannehill is a very inexperienced player being asked to carry our offense with no offensive line, OK WR's, no natural TE and average RB's who may be effective if the line could run block and it cannot. The biggest gripe I have with him is the underthrows on deep balls. I'd rather see overthrows. He will have his work cut out for him this week that's for sure

I think the some of things that really separate the two are pocket awareness, mobility, clutchness and the "it" factor. With luck you know he's going to be a hall of famer, with Tannehill you still have most of the critics up in the air with him. Only time will tell.

please stop looking at blind stats, there is absolutely no comparison btw the 2. That doesn't mean Ryan is bad but he's nowhere near Luck no matter what the #s say. It's not about the overall #s, it's about how you got there that matters.

Would I take Luck over Tannehill, yes....am I disappointed that the Dolphins have Tannehill, no. I love the fact that the Dolphins didn't trade away their future for one prospect (the way the Redskins did) and I like what Tannehill brings going forward. The difference between fan bases is that the Colts have had sustained success over the last 15 years and are having success again this year, that can do loads in how you view the team players and the FO moves.

Tannehill outplayed him head to head this year, and kept up with a FARRR inferior team last year. They absolutely should and will be compared, year after year. So lets ignore stats, head to head competition, the fact that Luck has a far better supporting cast.. what else do you want to ignore?

You should work on ignoring how silly Geno is going to look against Ryan next month...

Based on the season Geno Smith is having, I understand why a Jets fan would say numbers don't matter. ;)

Sacks are telling. Sure Luck is more polished running the ball and pocket awareness but the space between the two is much closer than the space between Ryan and Geno. FWIW.

Geno - 8 TDs 20 turnovers

you mean the guy that has as many wins w/ less talent as the great Ryan Tannehill?

I worry about wins, I don't worry about meaningless fantasy #s

Andrew Luck is a freak and he's absolutely the cream of the crop of all young NFL QBs, IMO. Russell Wilson is very impressive, but he's on a much, much, much, much better football team. Andrew Luck is the Colts.

I don't really get why we need these threads. If you want to feel good about Ryan Tannehill as a developing QB, go back and watch the Baltimore game. I'm serious. Even though we lost the game, go watch it -- or better yet, watch a mash-up of every Tannehill dropback. It demonstrates, in a nutshell, what the problems are with the Miami Dolphins offense. I'll give you some hints, #17 is not the guy who gets walked directly back into the quarterback. #17 is not the guy who drops three balls in key situations. #17 doesn't drop a pass that hits him in stride between the numbers on a critical 3rd and 2 late in the game. #17 isn't the guy who curls up into the fetal position instead of making an effort to get a first down.

Cam Newton is making big strides after three years. Jake Locker was making big strides until he got hurt. Ryan Tannehill absolutely deserves the opportunity to make big strides in year three.

Geno is closer to Ryan than Ryan is to Luck. That says more about how good Luck is than anything else.
