Tannehill was the SAFEST pick for Ireland for the short term

Exactly. That's the best point made so far. Jeff Ireland is a classic wimp. He feigns tough guy behind the scenes but has been petrified to face basic questioning for years, including the Dez Bryant situation. Then he only surfaces when ticket sales and therefore bottom line are threatened, and Ross shoves him out the door to hand out cookies at WQAM and the Herald, etc.

Jeff Ireland sensed that he was no longer immune from scrutiny. At the end of a rambling post a couple of weeks ago, I remember comparing Ireland's predicament to Ozzie Guillen's situation after the Castro remarks. Guillen would have loved to tell the fans and media to smell his commode. He believed every word he said about Castro and a few years ago would have been willing to repeat them, with emphasis. But this time he knew he was stuck, that minus a remedy he was going to lose a job, one that he could not reasonably mirror elsewhere. Jeff Ireland doesn't have a title on his resume. Lose this job, and given the growing reputation as a jerk, he's stuck in obscurity in a subordinate role somewhere else. The cheap fix for a classic wimp is to artificially purchase another couple of years via a rookie quarterback grab, inspiring the natural apologist threads like the one we've seen already...that Dolphin fans should be happy.

This tells me that Sherman thinks highly of Tannehill. I fail to see how this is a bad pick.

I still believe strongly that we were forced into making this selection.

Tannehill could bring down Sherman and Ireland with in 3-4 seasons but drafting him does give them the 3-4 years.

We filled two holes with one pick. If he doesn't work out at QB he still had a 2-3 round grade at WR. How many teams can safe value and move their failed QB to WR. (By the way I am just kidding) Can't wait for him to show his stuff on the field.
