Tannehill will be given opportunity to be opening day starter

In my personal opinion I feel like its his job to lose. It just makes too much sense. Ireland is on the hot seat, would he risk his career on taking a guy at 8 that didn't even get the chance to play? We were promised a splash at QB, I don't think the guy holding a clipboard can be considered a splash. He's already ahead of the vets in terms of knowing the offense. Ross wants Life Stadium to be rocking with fan support, not gonna happen under Moore. The first half of the schedule is a lot easier than the second half.

Again, I think the job is Tannehills unless he absolutely blows it in preseason and/or Moore/Garrard kill it in the new offense.
 
I must admit I have changed my mind on this pick. After watching some of the interviews it's pretty clear the guy is calm and collected. Confidence is half the battle. He obviously has the talent.
 
We should put him in the game in the 4th quarter, after we have built a 28 point lead...
 
Only if he's MUCH better than the other 2. Don't want to see another Blaine Gabbert.
 
hmm these guys know more about football than me, so i'll trust their decisions. But I really would prefer if we sat him for a year or two. Garrard and Moore are more than capable of leading us to a decent record.

I agree.. He should only start of he blows away the competition in camp. If he is equally as good in camp as Moore or Garrard, he should sit.
 
some qbs can be thrown into the fire and not be burned by it...If he can learn in the fire than I am all for him being day 1 starter...
 
Why would a team that has suffered as long as the fins take a QB in the first round and let him sit? If he has no grasp of the offense I get it. What would we possibly gain from letting T-hill sit? If we are going to be a mediocre team (no slam, not hatin') then this guy needs to be part of the reason. What is the advantage to T-hills' growth and experience by letting him sit and watch. If he is not the starter he will not get the majority of the reps in practice. If he is not the starter how can he adjust to the game speed of the NFL? These are some of the arguments I read and they do not add up to any logical thinkning. If he sits and we have a winning season how did he benefit? Same goes on the other side of the coin. My main point is if you draft a Qb that is supposed to be the answer and he has a grasp of the offense then you play him. The only reason I would not start him beyond injury is if he did not understand the offense enough to be productive.
 
I 've seen Shula quoted as saying one of the worst coaching decisions of his career was starting David Woodley over Dan in '83...

I think we'll all be able to tell after training camp and preseason if Tannehill is remotely ready
