From day one sherman/philbin/ireland/zac taylor should have understood they have a kid who is deadly with playaction bootleg passes. His skillset is setup for that. Funny thing is that is what i think the idea was but the problem is our oline personell wise is setup for man to man power scheme like jets. Jerry is getting beat badly to his spots. The offense should be built & catered to fit the Quaterbacks strengths instead were asking the quarterback to fit the offense he isnt built for. No tannehill is not a pocket QB who has to read defenses he is & should be used out on the edge. When schaub was playing well they ran that offense beautifully. The wide zone scheme gets the defense to committ to one side of the field then u pull that playaction bootleg & you have your TE wide open. Shannohan is still doing it in washington but he adapted it to his zone read. Dont force tannehill to drop back & restrict him to the pocket & rely on no YAC finesse WR's to beat man coverage. Tannehill has over a 100 QB rating in 2 seasons running bootleg or playaction. Tannehill will never develop under sherman.

I'll say this...if Houston parts ways with Kubiak after the season's over, i personally wouldn't mind bringing him in to be our new OC. I think Joe needs to tell Sherman ty for helping to get a WCO integrated into Miami, but he's gonna have to let him go and bring in a new OC...jmo though.

I wouldn't be against that if it played out that way. I think Kubiak will be fired when the season is done.

I am slowly starting to believe this...

Great post, although some of what Sherman calls fits Tannehills style, also it's not just what Ryan needs it's what this whole offense needs is a minor to medium twaek in scheme. Sherman needs to make better decisions now to get the backs more involved in screens, dump offs as the hot reads.

My fear is that by the time Sherman figures what works for the offense and our Oline plays more respectable,it will be too late for this season and maybe him.

I agree. However, do you waste the season perhaps, trying to develop his pocket passing ability as well, or do you forego that in the name of winning and run the kind of offense that suits him better at this stage of his development?

When your QB is suited for one kind of offense and not another, it makes it easier to gameplan against him.

Everyone welcome to last week when I said this. It's not just the offense suited to the player, but the fact that Kubiak has had success with QB's every stage of his career. He played the game, he knows offenses, does anyone thing Shaub is a better QB than Tannehill?

There's no doubt that Schaub does play action better then maybe 3 QB's.The 3 do not include Tannehide......plus Schaub throws a great deep ball better the Tannehide.
