DAVIE, Fla. — Walk in the front door of the Miami Dolphins’ headquarters, and the new vibe is impossible to miss. The lobby has been remodeled and now features less memorabilia, putting the focus on the important stuff: the franchise’s two Lombardi Trophies. Out on the practice field, the head coach who looks young enough to be a player is unafraid to jaw at defenders between plays.
When Adam Gase was hired in January to lead the Dolphins, the message he wanted to deliver was one of starting over. Don’t dwell on the ups and downs of the past few years, including a turbulent 2015 that bore a midseason coach firing, a 6-10 record and a last-place finish in the AFC East.

I love how people talk about how bad "The Team" looks in camp and then say if Tannehill doesn't get them to the playoffs it's all on him.

that's the best. "no more excuses," "on paper the o-line should be great." wow. can we see anybody play first? if there is protection, a reliable running attack, and an adequate receiving group, tannehill has to deliver. i don't think anyone disagrees. but predicting the future of a solid o-line, running game, receiving group, is beyond all our capabilities.

Why is nearly every thread you start about Tannehill? It's kind of obsessive.

Because he is the quarterback...you know...the leader of the offense? The coach on the field? Hes also the most controversial player on our roster as far as Finheaven is concerned. You have big supporters and big negative nancies...so it always creates a heated discussion.

Just a guess.

Tannehill will get a stay of execution in 2016 because it's a new offense and things are once again in transition. Unless things just completely fall apart and Gase goes the way of Cam Cameron after a year, but I doubt that.

People like yoge WANT Tannehill to suck. They want him to suck so they can say, "I TOLD YOU SO!!! LOOK AT MEEEEE!!! I'M SO SPECIAL!!!!!"

I don't want him to suck because if he does, then the Dolphins will suck. I want the Dolphins to be winners.

Just a question to everyone (not just the op)

But what would "make it" and what would "break it"

Another thing is. I don't get how a lot of teams have bad olines but yet they still win?

To me, he has to get back to 2014 numbers or better no matter the team's record. He needs to be more clutch as well in close games. I said before he needs to throw 30 or more TD's for his season to be considered a success. Well I will drop that down to 28 TD's. If he doesn't do those things, we will be stuck with a Alex Smith type game manager.

Gotcha. Are you atleast somewhat flexible on those numbers? Say he is a bit below your benchmarks, but still plays well and we make then playoffs? Is that fine?

Or say he plays well, has great stats, but we don't make the playoffs?

I expect as a team there will be growing pains and next year is what I'm truly waiting for.. But to make the playoffs this year would make a lot of people happy, but for me, it's not entirely necessary to sell me one way or another (on anything on the team)

If he shows improved footwork and pocket presence and is able to make plays on third down and in the fourth quarter while under duress or having to come from behind then I'll say we have our guy. He hasn't been able to do any of that through four years.

Who? Because I've seen OLs in GB, NE and Indy make their QBs and ultimately teams look pedestrian.
