Im tired of them referring to hacked when there is no evidence he was hacked. Being stupid or careless with your passwords or accounts is not exactly beyond the realm of possibility, in fact it seems more plausable.

Yes but but any unauthorized access is hacking regardless of how they accessed the account. Suffice to say he didn't do it so it's just semantics if not a pure "hack". Worked out very well for Miami

nailed it.....

Although we all associate "hacking" with any unauthorized use of the computer, dlox is actually correct based on the following Urban Dictionary definitions. What Tunsil should have said is "a cracker accessed my account."

hacking
Hacking is the gaining of access(wanted or unwanted) to a computer and viewing, copying, or creating data(leaving a trace) without the intention of destroying data or maliciously harming the computer.

This represents the Good Guys most of the time for they are the ones who search for these exploits to prevent crackers use a method called cracking(opposite of hacking).

Hacking and hackers are commonly mistaken to be the bad guys most of the time. Crackers are the ones who screw things over as far as creating virus, cracks, spyware, and destroying data.

References:
Cracker - Person who gains unauthorized access to a computer with the intention of causing damage.

Cracking - Method by which a person who gains unauthorized access to a computer with the intention of causing damage.

Hacker - Person who gains authorized/unauthorized access to a computer WITHOUT the intention of causing damage.

maybe it did , hopefully it did but alot of other teams passed so we shall see. Its worth the risk in many ways but there are red flags no matter what one wants to think.

The only thing that matters is if the access was authorized. Being careless with a password still results in criminal proceedings for the perpetrator.

Red Flag? I don't think you realize how many NFL players smoke pot.

Now, if he was assaulting people, I would be a little worried. A little grass never hurt anybody.

"I got hacked" VS. "An enterprising individual gained my password and then used that password to post unauthorized data over my social media accounts."

Congratulations, dlockz, I think this is the most pointlessly contrarian post of the year so far.

That's silly. Black hats vs White hats.

Since we sidetracked into hacking and cracking, can we get back. Did Tannenbaum say anything else worthwhile?

For real , I mean , that's just ridiculous to make this guy seem like he's the only one who smokes weed .

Hell , if that makes you a bad person then consider me one hell of a big red flag -.-

If Tunsil went up there and said "a cracker got into my account"

Let's just say that most would not interpret that meaning the way Urban Dictionary intends

That's racist.

Of course it's a red flag. The fact is for him, a college athlete he can not at this time use illegal substances. Until that changes I would hope we would expect him/them to follow the rules. Professional athletes have to follow rules just as the college ones do. Yes, smoking pot is not a serious social offense these days, it however can be a serious 7 million dollar offense to these athletes. That's reality.

Whether pot should be legal or for athletes is a totally different issue/subject.
