**** I started this tread last season but I edited it for this seasons stats and contract situations.******

If Tashard Choice is not in the future rotation of the Cowboys do you think he is worth a look as depth to Miami's running game based on the following:

1) Ronnie is 99% gone
2) Ricky might be gone
3) Cobbs and Hillard are not locks by any means

Tashard is young and has good first and second year numbers for a back that is a rotational player with three backs.
Here is an article about Choice and his potential and his ability to catch the ball out of the back field.

Stats:

5'10" 212lbs. - 2008 4th round pick out of Georgia Tech

2008 - 92 rushes for 472 yards, 5.2ave, 2TD's, 21rec for 185 yards,
2009 - 64 rushes for 349 yards, 5.5ave, 3TD's, 15rec for 132 yards
2010 - 66 rushes for 243 yards, 3.7ave, 3TD's, 17rec for 109 yards

He has 1 year left on his contract with Dallas so I am not sure what it would take to bring him in but I am sure the front office could figure out something worth the potential value of a good player with a lot of good abilities. He is severely unhappy in Dallas with the splitting time with Jones and Barber.

I personally feel Tashard has a good potential for low risk value and I also think he would fit the system nicely and would be available without trading high picks or personnel.

Adding another good young back in the system for the right price never hurts and from what Choice has demonstrated on the field it might not be a stretch to gamble on a third year guy instead of drafting a lower round running back in the draft to compete for a starting spot on the roster.

Just my thought anyway.

Lex Hilliard doesn't look so bad honestly...plus trading for a average RB is kind of a dumb move since they seem to be a dime a dozen in the later rounds as of late.

we have enough of a mess back there that something is bound to be able to run through a hole if the line could stay healthy. so i wouldn't invest any picks in any backs. if Ronnie comes back he's going to take the bulk of the snaps anyway, directly or otherwise.

the cowboys hav e0 incentive to trade him for anything less than a 2nd round pick....he's not going anywhere.

IMO he is going to stay in dallas and they are going to get rid of M. Barber and keep T. Choice and F. Jones

He's Going to be Restricted so it's a moot point

They have three backs that all want snaps, someone is going this off season. Choice is the odd man out right now and actually he is not a restricted free agent he is under contract so it would have to be via trade to acquire his services.

I am just not sold on Lex yet maybe in time

I worry Ricky will wear down this season if he has to be the feature back.

Brown is and always has been a craps shoot, came from a two back system in Auburn and his scouting report out of college said right up front “not sure he can handle the load of a full season”. I agree Ronnie is a pro bowl caliber back that Miami will not find anywhere else this off season “when” he is healthy, I just do not trust Ronnie to make it through a season.

I just like the kid and think it would improve the team as a whole, give Choice the punt retune duties as well, use him like a Sproles if he ends up getting a trade from Dallas.

I've always liked Tashard Choice and would love to have him in Miami. He's a good back and can do a lot of things well. If we were to have a running back stable of Ronnie, Ricky, Choice and Cobbs I think we'd be the deepest team in the league at the position most prone to injury, not a bad thing to have. If Choice is made available for the right price, I think he's a great guy to have.

Tashard is a total clown though. You guys ever see his youtube channel?

Choice is a very under-rated back. Doesn't get the media attention that Jones and Barber get in Dallas but he is a very good player. I dont see us picking up a RB in the offseason though.
