I think this is a good assessment based on what we've seen this offseason..

“Their philosophy seems to be that they’ve got one aspect of their team that’s good, which is their running game, and they want to make it better, make it dominating. To have one aspect of their game they know going in they’re going to win. To get stronger in an area where they’re already strong.”

With Pennington at QB, Tasker said having a No. 1 wide receiver isn’t as big an issue as it would be for other teams.

The Dolphins want to emphasize the running game in 2009? WOW, that was a stretch for him to come to that conclusion. The Dolphins wanted to emphasize the running game in 2008 as well but due to injuries, they were not able to.

With Pennington at QB, Tasker said having a No. 1 wide receiver isn’t as big an issue as it would be for other teams.

“It’s not going to help to send a guy down the field if your quarterback isn’t going to throw it out there,” he said. “Where they can make hay is to use Pennington as a complement to the running game. He can throw deep enough to hit the big play now and again, but they don’t have to do that much. It’s more a possession passing game.”

Ted Ginn “would be a fine No. 1” under those circumstances, he said. “I’m sure they’ll keep their eyes open (for an upgrade), but they’re not staying awake nights thinking about it.” Tasker said the progress Ginn made last year “will allow him to come back with more confidence” next season.

He said he likes Greg Camarillo “more than Ginn,” as long as he returns to full speed from his knee injury.

i agree that with pennington you dont need a true no. 1 cuz he can spread it so well underneath...

But it would be nice to get a rookie to learn from Pennington for a season, and then Henne won't be throwing to a rookie, he'll be throwing to a receiver who already learned the game from pennington...

ginn is better than camarillo everyday

based on players the fins are showing interest in for the draft this is dead on. they will draft a top tier fullback in 4th or 5th round. i could see them picking up another o lineman in the 2nd or 3rd round. i can't wait to shove it down the opponents throats much like the ravens did this past season. it's going to be fun.

if Thomas can come back and stay healthy it will be huge
To me this is key, the biggest thing I remember about thomas other than he surprised me by making the starting lineup, is his Strength, the D guys talked about how they could "feel him" out there... I'd love to see that kind of strength on display for a full season. I went back and watch game 1 of last year, and the kid is strong..just want to see the technique a little refined. Man I hate he missed the rest of last year, he'll be behind a little in the physical part of the game this year in terms of learning from mistakes from last year... Hopefully the film work from last year helps him mentally this year.. But if this guy plays big.. I'll be pumped.

i think that's the mental part of the game. the physical part would be wearing down during games/the season or being manhandled by defenders.

The Ravens were actually pretty bad at running the ball with a 4.0 YPC ranking them tied for 21st in the league. What the Ravens did do was have the most rushing attempts per game in the NFL last year. They were protecting Flacco and using their great defense to win games.

I agree with you guys. It all starts up front. Obviously our coaches know this and is why we resigned Vernon, and brought in Grove. I do hope our Gs can stay healthy. Thomas, who knows with him, and Smiley needs to make it a full season. I am happy we have added some depth, and hopefully Samson can step in and play some guard too. I love the idea of pounding with the ground game. Chad does what he needs to do, move the chains, pick up some yards here and there and he does not make mistakes.

What has this guy been smoking??.. Our running game was weak as **** in 2008....

IN TUNA WE TRUST....

This has been part of my arguement against drafting any player for the Wildcat, we will be looking to run a more power offense with our oline back.

What I was referring to is the missed time making physical contact with different teams week in and week out..making the neccessary adjustments on the field to beat his man, and seeing the physical portion of his footwork and hands actually beat someone on a consistent basis...thus physically getting better each week.. What he got was the mental reps in the film room along with the other OL after each game.. That's seeing it, but not actually doing it..you know the physical stuff..

I think the better you run the ball, the better you throw the ball. Kinda hard to throw the ball well without a running game or Peyton Manning behind center. I think our passing attack is underrated. Pennington had his best season as pro in 08, if we can figure out how run the ball effectively we'll have a better passing attack.

In most cases I would agree with you. But of course I don;t see the fins like typical football. Usually you can use the running game to set up play action and take shots downfield. Problem is Penny can't go deep, we know this and so does every other team we're going to play. If a reciever goes more than 25 yars downfield unless he's got 3 steps on the defender Penny won't be able to get it there. Teams only have to load up the middle of the field to render Penny relatively ineffective. At the same time it doesnt keep defenders off the line and hurts the running game.
