Taylor-for-Sheppard trade painful but necessary

That's one hard for me to say. I want Lito and I want JT to remain a Dolphin. Man is there anyway to have both?

Positives:
1. We'd be getting younger
2. We'd be upgrading a position of need

Negatives:
1. We lose a beloved Miami Dolphin fan favorite
2. We lose some pass rush ability and depth at the DE/OLB spot

My heart would hate to see it happen, but my brain would love to see it happen.

Because this source is not primarily a media source, but more fan based I can tolerate the speculation. I would be less tolerant of it had it been from the Herald or Sentinel. I generally don't like such speculation. I really only want to hear about things like this when they have some legs on them. I don't think this does right now. Could later depending on Taylor and the FO.

The title is a bit misleading. I almost spit out my coffee.

The trade would be bittersweet, but I would fully support it. Unfortunately, it's extremely unlikely. The iggles aren't one person away. They can't afford to sacrifice for one player that needs to win now.

actually, i think i heard reid say they were ready to compete for a title next year. that team is getting seriously old - now is their shot if ever. reid needs a deep playoff run to save his job. this is plausible.

my worry are lito's injury problems. dude misses games like he is grant hill.

It's not a sacrifice bc they brought in A. Samuel. Probably bc of Lito's injury woes.

We would also be saving some CAP room..

Also the issue we have is jason Taylor just might not FIT THIS SYSTEM
regardless of how GREAT he was/is he can't be forced into fitting a system he's not designed for if thats the case.

We need Litto more than Jason right now in the franchises eyes.

I loved Jason with my heart, but my mind says I want Litto for the next 5 years.

Peace Out Jason Taylor, you are obviously and entitled veteran now and can do whatever you like (like dancing instead of getting your *** in football shape-remember your slow start last year??). Bring Lito in for him ,sure, i would be elated. We need talent at that position.

Im pretty surprised most people are not in favor of such a deal. To me, its a no-brainer. I think Lito is just as injury prone as Goodman, only a FAR superior player, and younger, if I'm not mistaken. It does leave a bit of a hole at OLB, though I wonder if Joey could be THE MAN again in a 3-4 defense.

he isn't quite as injury prone as goodman, plus we wouldn't have to get rid of JT to get him, but i see what you are saying.

he's missed around 18 games since 2005. that is scary.

But I believe he made the PB in that period, no? Or maybe in '04? I would take my chances. I'll say this. He'll play more games in a Dolphins uniform from this point onwards than JT. And that is whether he misses two complete seasons or not. I just dont see JT playing more than 32 more games in the aqua and orange.

he's gone to the PB twice i think. top 10 CB talent no question. replacing someone who is never hurt with someone who is constantly hurt is the question - putting age aside. the eagles picked up samuel with lito on the roster - they don't seem to think he will stay healthy either.

i love florida players - especially good ones. and we need a CB. and he is young and has pro bowl talent so it makes sense. but when the magic gave up ben wallace, among others, to get grant hill that made sense too.

but i would be all for this trade if it happened. i'm just sayin...
