Miami Dolphins fans have to be thrilled that Jason Taylor, whom the team traded to Washington last offseason, is back. Taylor spent 11 hugely successful years in Miami before his rift with its management caused the trade to the Redskins last summer, but the feud is over and Taylor is once again a Dolphin.

His addition will add depth to the defense, of course, but the one Dolphin who has to be thrilled about Taylor finding his way back to the team is Matt Roth. Even if Taylor has lost some speed, teams will key on him and Joey Porter, which is going to open gaps for Roth to wreak havoc on quarterbacks in 2009.

Roth has received mixed reviews from fans, but he has improved statistically every season since coming into the league as a 2005 second-round pick. With upgrades to the secondary and snagging Taylor at a low price, you have to think that Roth can improve on last year's five sacks, right?

How is Roth going to get on the field with Porter and Taylor???

Stupid article. If anything...it means less playing time for Roth...

^agree with both. Article writer doesn't have a clue, Roth won't be on the field if JT and Porter are.

I'm interested in how Miami will be rotating Porter, Taylor, Roth and Wake. Roth obviously on run downs with.... Porter? Will Porter be on the field every down? Or is he rotational like Taylor and Roth are? Will there be some situations where Taylor, Roth and Wake will be on the field with each other?

I do believe I remember some moments when Quentin Moses and Charlie Anderson were on the field together as DE's in a 4-3 alignment.

Where does Charlie Anderson fit in??

Will Jason Taylor be playing special teams since he is a situational player?

But if he is ready, and Roth improves just a touch, JT still has gas in the tank, and Porter picks up where we left off last season, we could end up with one of the most dangerous pass rushing defenses in the league. I know, a lot of ifs.

I believe that JT will play almost only on pass obvious situations. JP and Roth will play on running ones, with Wake coming in for JP or one of the ILB on some passing plays but not all.

Taylor will not be on the field on running downs, Roth will be. Either way I am not complaining about having a wide range of pass rushers on the team. Taylor and Porter are both on the downturn of their careers and we don't know how they are going to hold up as the season rolls on. Roth is much better than both those players in run stopping and is improving year on year as an all round player. I for one am glad we have him.
